  • Unilever gives away gift cards

    Shoppers at Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) stores are being encouraged to think clean this summer as part of a promotion involving Unilever.

    The global consumer products company is offering a “Salute to Clean Sweepstakes,” in which customers eligible to shop at AAFES stores can enter to win a $1,000 gift card.

    “Exchange shoppers can really clean up this summer,” said AAFES chief of staff Col. Thomas Ockenfels.

    The deadline for entry to win one of the 15 gift cards is July 19.

  • P&G Beauty names 2011 All-Around World Champion Jordyn Wieber as ambassador

    CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble has announced that Jordyn Wieber, reigning All-Around World Champion, will serve as an ambassador for P&G Beauty brands, including CoverGirl, Head & Shoulders, Olay and Venus.

    Wieber will join fellow teammate Alicia Sacramone as P&G Beauty ambassador, expanding on her existing partnership with P&G and the company's sponsorship of Team USA during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

  • Opening date set for Cabela's newest location

    A soon-to-open Cabela’s store in Rogers, Ark., will test the viability of a large format store in a small market.

    The opening of the 100,000-sq.-ft. Cabela’s store is slated for Thursday, August 30 and was strategically timed to kick off the Labor Day weekend. A ribbon cutting planned for 8:45 will be followed by appearances from outdoor personalities and celebrities, family events and merchandise giveaways.

  • Macy's gives Katy Perry fans ultimate deal

    NEW YORK — Macy's is offering Katy Perry fans the chance to see her movie, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," for free just for shopping in its stores. On Saturday, June 30, at more than 650 Macy’s locations nationwide, with any purchase of $50 or more in the Macy’s MSTYLELAB departments customers will receive one ticket to the film.

  • Family Dollar keeps delivering value for shareholders and consumers

    MATTHEWS, N.C. — Dollar stores continue to thrive in this consumer-conscious economy, and Family Dollar is no exception.

    The dollar store chain reported a total sales increase of 9.6% to $2.36 billion for the third quarter, compared with $2.15 billion for the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 5%, helped by increased customer traffic and strong performances in the seasonal, electronics and consumables categories.

  • Target gives $30K for Colorado wildfire relief

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target has donated $30,000 in monetary support and product to assist with Colorado wildfire relief efforts. A $17,500 cash donation was distributed among several American Red Cross chapters in Colorado in addition to $5,000 in product donations for essentials such as water and food. A separate donation of $7,500 in gift cards was given to other nonprofit organizations in the affected areas.

  • Sunscape named licensee for Baby Genius eyewear

    SAN DIEGO — Genius Brands International has named Sunscape Eyewear as an eyewear licensee for its Baby Genius brand.

    The two-year agreement grants Sunscape rights to manufacture and distribute worldwide Baby Genius-themed eyewear for boys and girls ages 0 to 4 years featuring Baby Genius characters. Product categories include sunglasses, eyewear and eyewear accessories such as croakies and cases.
