  • Rite Aid expands Easter assortment

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has expanded its Easter and spring supplies at its stores in anticipation of the holiday and season, the retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

    The 4,623-store chain said items at its stores included chocolate bunnies, marshmallow Peeps, SweeTarts, Ducks & Bunnies, Cadbury Eggs and other candy brands, as well as baskets and other accessories.

    In addition, the company is selling such gardening supplies as planters, figurines, bird feeders, wind chimes and outdoor fountains and lighting, including solar-powered devices.

  • NRF: Easter spending expected to be flat

    Washington, D.C. -- A report released Monday by the National Retail Federation said that the average person celebrating Easter this year will spend about $145.13 on candy, décor, apparel and food – with is flat with last year’s $145.28.

    NRF, through its Easter Spending Survey conducted by BIGinsight, estimated that total spending will reach an estimated $17.2 billion this year.

  • Keds steps out on tour with Taylor Swift

    LEXINGTON, Mass. — Keds has announced its sponsorship of seven-time Grammy winning, multi-platinum singer-songwriter and style icon Taylor Swift's North American RED Tour, kicking-off on March 13 in Omaha, Nebraska and continuing through September. To celebrate, Keds is releasing a limited edition Champion sneaker featuring the names of each city on the tour.

  • Hibbett scores high on earnings, sales in Q4

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Hibbett Sports reported that net sales for the fourth quarter increased 14% to $217.4 million compared with $190.7 million for the same period last year. Comparable-store sales increased 4.9% on a 13-week to 13-week period.

    Net income for the quarter increased 22.3% to $19.4 million compared with $15.8 million for the same period last year. Earnings per diluted share increased 23.7% to 73 cents for the quarter compared with 59 cents for the same period last year.

  • Three new tenants to open at Marlins Park

    Miami Beach, Fla. -- Terranova Corp. announced that three new tenants will open at Shops at Marlins Park, a retail area at the entrance of the new Marlins Park in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

    Café Rubio Sports Bar & Restaurant, a Caribbean restaurant, has signed a 10-year, 3,200-sq.-ft. lease, with plans to open in mid-summer 2013. Subway has signed a 10-year lease for a 1,400-sq.-ft. restaurant also opening summer 2013.

    Cigar shop 100 Fires will open a 625-sq.-ft. store in winter 2014.
