  • Gap enters Central America

    San Francisco -- Gap Inc. is expanding its footprint in Latin America. Leveraging its franchise model, the company has opened its first stores in Panamá and plans to introduce its brands to three additional Latin American countries: Colombia, Uruguay, and Peru.

  • Marcus & Millichap announces promotion

    Philadelphia -- Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services said that it has promoted Mark E. Taylor to first VP investments.

    Most recently, Taylor held the title of VP investments. He specializes in the sale of retail shopping centers and net-leased property investment real estate.

  • Casual Male DestinationXL format to make Middle East debut

    Canton, Mass. -- Casual Male Retail Group announced that its first DestinationXL store in the Middle East will open this spring in Symphony Mall, Kuwait City, Kuwait, under a franchise agreement between one of its subsidiaries and The Standard Arabian Business & Enterprises Company (SABECO).

  • Container Store, Drybar to open at Plaza El Segundo

    El Segundo, Calif. -- Federal Realty announced that The Container Store is slated to open a new store at its Plaza El Segundo property, in Southern California. The 22,000-sq.-ft. location is slated to open in June.

    As well, Drybar hair salon will open a new location at the shopping center, featuring no cuts, no color, but just blowouts at $35 each. The 1,484-sq.-ft. salon is slated to open March 16.

    Plaza El Segundo measures just under 400,000 sq. ft. and features three districts in an open-air coastal setting.

  • Regency Centers to launch construction of East Washington Place

    Petaluma, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it will begin construction of East Washington Place, a 378,000-sq.-ft. community center anchored by Target.

    Located in Petaluma, Calif., the new development is strategically located at the intersection of two main arterial roads, East Washington Street and Highway 101, with daily traffic counts in excess of 92,000. Regency Centers will invest approximately $61 million into the project, which will create approximately 380 construction jobs and 720 permanent jobs.

  • Burlington Coat Factory to open at Woodbridge Crossing

    Woodbridge, N.J. -- SRS Real Estate Partners said that Burlington Coat Factory has leased 78,303 sq. ft. at Woodbridge Crossing Shopping Center in Woodbridge, N.J.

    Burlington Coat Factory, scheduled to open later this year, will be occupying the former The Great Indoors, which closed several years ago.

  • Casto names property manager

    Columbus, Ohio -- Casto announced that Bruce Engelhardt has joined the firm’s property management team where his primary focus will be on a retail portfolio totaling 1.8 million sq. ft. of shop space.

    Most recently, Engelhardt was the group manager of the Open-Air Division at Jones Lang LaSalle.

  • Gordman’s expanding into Utah

    New York City -- Gordman's will open its first stores in Utah, in March, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

    The value-priced department store operator will open a store in Farmington’s Station Park shopping center on March 23, and also one in The District shopping center in South Jordan, the report said. A third store is set to open, in Riverdale, in July.

    “The Salt Lake MSA [metropolitan statistical area between Ogden and Provo] we see as a significant opportunity for us,” CEO Jeff Gordman said, in the report.
