  • Report: New bidders emerge for Blockbuster

    New York City -- Several bidders, including Dish Network Corp. and billionaire investor Carl Icahn, are ready to battle for Blockbuster at a bankruptcy auction in New York on Monday, the Associated Press reported. The chain, which filed Chapter 11 in February, has received several bids other than the opening bid of $290 million from a group of debtholders made in February.

    Dish and Icahn have each submitted a bid, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

  • Nutrition for sale

    PITTSBURGH — General Nutrition Centers Thursday evening announced its initial public offering of 22.5 million shares of its Class A common stock at an opening price of $16 per share.

    Of the shares offered, 16 million are being issued and sold by GNC and 6.5 million shares are being sold by selling stockholders.

    In addition, selling stockholders have granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 3.4 million shares. That offering is expected to close on April 6.

  • Cinemark to open new 14-screen theater at Presidio Junction

    Fort Worth, Texas -- The Weitzman Group/Cencor Realty Services announced that Cinemark Holdings will construct a 14-screen, all-digital movie theater that will feature the company's new Cinemark NextGen design concept.   

    Cinemark has entered into an agreement to purchase 10 acres in Presidio Junction, a 300-acre master-planned mixed-use development of LNR Property LLC, located eight miles north of downtown Fort Worth, Texas.

  • Nordstrom Rack to open in Boise, Idaho

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in Boise, Idaho.

    The 37,000-sq.-ft. store will be part of the Boise Towne Plaza shopping center and is expected to open in spring 2012.

  • SRS Real Estate announces exec’s return

    Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced that Greg Roth has returned to the company, serving as senior VP and market leader in South Florida.

    A veteran of Staubach Retail Services (now SRS), Roth also served as director of retail investments for Archon Group and, most recently, was managing principal of LDR Realty Partners.

  • La Mar Peruvian restaurant to open on Madison Square Park

    New York City -- Robert K. Futterman & Associates said it has brought Gastón Acurio's Peruvian restaurant concept La Mar to New York City's Madison Square Park, as Acurio’s company has taken over the former Tabla space at 11 Madison Ave.

    RKF recently arranged the retail lease assignment, including approximately 9,000 sq. ft. on two floors, in the Credit Suisse Building on the southeast corner of 25th Street.

    The restaurant is slated to open in the fall.

  • Bar Louie selects Jones Lang LaSalle for 100-location expansion

    Chicago – Bar-and-restaurant concept Bar Louie said Tuesday it is undertaking a major national expansion initiative of more than 100 new locations in 20 markets nationwide and has appointed Jones Lang LaSalle as its exclusive real estate advisor.

    Jones Lang LaSalle will work in tandem with Bar Louie’s real estate team and select brokers in various markets to leverage both tenant-favorable conditions, as well as the availability of vacant full-amenity restaurant space located within high-density urban and suburban markets.

  • Gallelli retail team joins Voit firm

    Sacramento, Calif. -- Voit Real Estate Services announced that the Gallelli Retail Team, led by Jason K. Gallelli, has joined the Sacramento office of Voit.

    In their previous role with Colliers International, The Gallelli Retail Team represented more than 50 Northern California shopping centers, as well as representing more than 25 national retailers, such as Cinemark Theatres, Best Buy, TJX Companies, Costco, Sprouts Farmers Market, Chipotle, and Panera Bread.
