  • Jones Lang LaSalle to lease and manage Kirkwood Mall

    Bismarck, N.D. -- Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle announced that it has been named as the new property and leasing manager for Kirkwood Mall, an 845,000-sq.-ft. enclosed mall in Bismarck, N.D., by an affiliate of Radiant Partners that recently purchased the mall from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

    Kirkwood Mall was built in 1970 and contains 80 shops, anchored by Herberger’s, I. Keating Furniture World, J.C. Penney, Scheels and Target.
     

  • Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts to open in former Comp USA store

    Paramus, N.J. -- New Rochelle, N.Y.-based Welco Realty, an X Team partner, announced that it has signed a lease representing Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft for 30,000 sq. ft. for a flagship store in the former Comp USA space in Paramus, N.J.

    This store will be one of the largest format stores for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, its first store in the Paramus market. 
     

  • Modell’s to open smaller concept store at Interstate Shopping Center

    Ramsey, N.J. -- Welco Realty, an X Team partner, announced that it has signed a lease with Modell’s Sporting Goods for its new smaller-concept store, the retailer’s first in New Jersey.

    The store is approximately 8,551 sq. ft., about half its standard size. Modell’s first small-format store opened on Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.
     

  • Dish Network wins auction, acquiring Blockbuster for $228 million

    New York City -- Satellite TV company Dish Network Corp. said Wednesday that it won the auction for Blockbuster with a bid valued at $228 million in cash. The transaction, expected to close the deal during the second quarter, needs bankruptcy court approval.

    As of Tuesday, Dish, investor Carl Icahn and a group of debt holders were the three remaining bidders for the Dallas movie-rental chain, which filed for Chapter 11 in September.

  • Yoga By Degrees and Smashburger to open at Rice Lake Square

    Wheaton, Ill. -- Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Mid-America Asset Management said that Yoga By Degrees and Smashburger recently signed leases at Rice Lake Square in Wheaton, Ill., a western suburb of Chicago.

    The independently owned yoga studio is slated to open this spring in 4,598 sq. ft. of space. Denver-based Smashburger, a privately held gourmet burger chain, leased 2,200 sq. ft. of space, with plans to open this summer.

    Rice Lake Square is a 251,313-sq.-ft. shopping center anchored by Whole Foods, Stein Mart, Borders and PetSmart.

  • Blockbuster auction to continue into second day

    New York City -- Blockbuster's bankruptcy auction is set to stretch into a second day on Tuesday after preliminary talks between bidders and the chain's representatives dragged on late into Monday, a company spokesman said.

    Blockbuster did not say how many bidders it attracted, but halls outside the auction room in Manhattan bankruptcy court were packed with attorneys and investment bankers refining their bids throughout Monday, Reuters reported.

  • Chipotle Mexican Grill to open at Woodmoor Shopping Center

    Silver Spring, Md. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased 1,990 sq. ft. of restaurant space in Silver Spring, Md., at Woodmoor Shopping Center to Chipotle Mexican Grill.

    The restaurant is slated to open this summer.

    The 67,403-sq.-ft. shopping center includes national retailers such as CVS/pharmacy, Starbucks, The UPS Store and Tuesday Morning.

  • Village on the Parkway acquired

    Dallas -- The Retail Connection, L.P., Lincoln Property Company Commercial and the Fidelity Real Estate Group announced Friday that they have acquired Village on the Parkway, a 380,000-sq.-ft. lifestyle center located in the Addison area of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

    The center was sold by J.E. Robert Co. after the default by its previous owner.
