  • Olive Garden gets social with breadsticks

    Orlando, Fla. – “Breaking bread” is the tradition of mixing socialization with eating, and Olive Garden is taking the concept to a new, virtual level. To promote its new breadstick sandwiches, Olive Garden is launching the “Breadsticks Nation” sweepstakes, powered by social engagement technology from HelloWorld.

  • Macy’s adds two more store locations for launch of Macy’s Backstage

    Cincinnati -- Macy’s on Monday announced two more pilot store locations in metro New York City for its new off-price format, Macy’s Backstage. The additional stores brings to six the total number of Macy’s Backstage for launch. All are expected to open in fall 2015 and average about 30,000 sq. ft.

    The added locations are at Fordham Place in The Bronx, and Essex Green Shopping Center, West Orange, New Jersey, where an existing Macy’s store will be converted to Macy’s Backstage.

  • Target to go mad for plaid

    Target has quietly announced its next Lilly Pulitzer: a collaboration with another U.S. designer who will create a collection of new apparel, accessories, pet goods and home furnishings for the retailer.

    Target announced on its Bullseye blog this week that it has chosen Adam Lippes to create more than 50 items inspired by buffalo plaid for the Adam Lippes for Target.

  • Charming Charlie opens New York flagship, will expand globally

    New York - Charming Charlie has unveiled its first New York City flagship store. Situated on Fifth Avenue, the flagship is a showcase for the brand's new store concept, and was designed in partnership with Callison Architects.  

  • Michaels' profit jumps despite exchange rates, weather

    The Michaels Companies overcame weak same store sales growth to deliver strong profit growth in the first quarter.

    The Texas-based retailer reported that for the first quarter ended May 2 its net income increased to $67 million or 32 cents per share from $47 million or 25 cents per share in the prior-year quarter. Net sales for the quarter grew 2.4% to $1.08 billion from $1.05 billion in the same quarter last year. Same store sales increased by 0.3%.

  • Kohl's makes Summerfest free for families

    Kohl’s is stepping up again to make summer activities free for families this summer through a partnership with Summerfest.

    The partnership will offer educational, fun and creative activities for children of all ages and their families, as well as the opportunity for patrons to gain free admission to the Summerfest festival.

  • Five Below still poised for expansion

    Five Below reported an increase in same store sales and profit for the first quarter in the same week the company opened a new distribution center to support its expansion plans. 

  • Trademark begins renovation of Texas center

    Dallas - Trademark Property Co., the operating partner for The Shops at Highland Village, has started construction on its multi-million dollar renovation of the 389,090-sq.-ft. shopping center. Enhancements include: upgraded building façades, common area and landscaping improvements, public art, new amenities for adults and children, and new signage throughout the property.
