  • Apple opens 6th Manhattan store; turns old bank into retail space

    New York — Apple has opened its sixth store in Manhattan, on the Upper East Side in a Beaux Arts building that was originally the home of the U.S. Mortgage & Trust bank in the 1920s. The site, on Madison Avenue, most recently housed a luxury retailer.

  • Restoration Hardware launching new store concept, RH Modern

    CORTE MADERA, California — Restoration Hardware is going modern. The luxury home furnishings retailer is introducing a new store concept called RH Modern this fall. The company officially unveiled its new format in a video on its website.

    RH introduced the concept on the same day that it posted first-quarter earnings and sales that topped analysts estimates and also boosted its annual guidance.

    Walmart’s saturation of Northwest Arkansas with its Neighborhood Market format continued this week with the opening of a new location on north Walton Boulevard just a few miles from the retailer’s headquarters.

  • Walmart combines physical and digital in new Neighborhood Market store

    New York — Walmart continues its building boom in Northwest Arkansas, opening a Neighborhood Market store just a few miles from the chain’s headquarters in Bentonville. During the past few years, company has added new Sam’s Clubs, Supercenters, a Walmart To Go convenience store, a grocery pick up facility and nearly 10 new Neighborhood Markets to the area.   While adding another new Neighborhood Market isn’t a huge deal, but the store’s location, its layout and some of the signing elements are noteworthy.

    Staples has empowered young students to help create and design school products that solve real-life problems.

    Through a unique initiative created by Staples Inc. called Designed by Students. kids have made: a colorful all-in-one writing instrument with interchangeable writing tips. A portable desk that lets students work anywhere. A floating locker shelf that maximizes and stylizes lockers.

  • Food Lion to donate more than 1M meals

    Food Lion is celebrating the anniversary of its hunger relief program by donating more than 1 million meals.

    In year 1 of the Food Lion Feeds program, the grocer donated more than 62 million meals and is on target to meet its commitment to donate 500 million meals throughout its 10-state operating area by the end of 2020.

  • Cabela’s continues Canadian expansion

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. will open a 50,000-sq.-ft. store in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon opening, it will become the first Cabela’s location in Nova Scotia and second in Atlantic Canada, joining the Moncton, New Brunswick store opened in May.

    The retailer expects construction on the store to begin in 2016, and anticipates a 2017 opening. It will be located in the Dartmouth Crossing development near the intersection of Lakeview Drive and Wright Avenue. North American Development is the developer.
     

  • Bealls designs an artistic marketing campaign

    Bealls has come up with a creative marketing campaign to leverage the artistic talent of its customers.

    The company has launched the Bealls Florida Artist Competition, which will provide the opportunity for new and established artists to have their artwork produced into a line of Florida-inspired products exclusive to Bealls Florida.
