  • Target to give a top-performing store a total makeover

    Target plans to renovate its downtown Minneapolis flagship, adding an array of new features.   The discounter will invest $10 million in a full-store remodel for the location, which opened in 2001, reported The Journal.     Less ambitious updates are planned for other Target stores in the Twin Cities area.    
  • Report: Online retailer’s sample sale gets ‘social’

    Specialty retailer Bow & Drape is putting a new spin on how it sells its cheeky merchandise.   The brand, which lets shoppers customize pun-inspired apparel, is rolling out sample sales on Instagram, Glossy said.   
  • Wireless provider rewards customers with free fuel

    T-Mobile’s digital loyalty program just got more valuable.   The company’s “T-Mobile Tuesdays” app delivers free gifts and dis-counts to its users each week. Through its partnership with Excentus, the wireless provider now features a 25-cent-per-gallon “Fuel Rewards” discount code within its weekly rewards rotation.   
  • Social media giant assists businesses with hiring

    Retailers may have a new way to spread the word about their job openings.   Facebook now allows businesses in the United States and Canada to post available positions on their company pages or in the new “Jobs on Facebook” bookmark. Facebook users can also see job posts in their news feed, and alongside other posts on Facebook’s business pages, the social network said.   
  • P.F. Chang’s signs on at Butler Town Center

    Gainesville retail pioneer Butler Enterprises announced the signing of P.F. Chang’s as a restaurant anchor at its Butler Town Center, now under development.   "It's an excellent fit for P.F. Chang's and we're really looking forward to sharing our farm-to-wok food philosophy with the entire Gainesville community," said P.F. Chang’s CMO Dwayne Chambers.  
  • Final call for Shoptalk’s new ‘Hosted Retailers & Brands’ program

    Shoptalk, the “nextgen commerce event,” is still accepting applications for a new initiative that connects retailers and brands with technology companies — and provides complimentary tickets and travel reimbursement to the event.    Shoptalk will accept applications for its new “Hosted Retailers & Brands Program” until midnight on Friday, Feb. 17. More than 100 retailers and brands have already been accepted into the program. (Shoptalk will be held March 19-22, 2017, at the Aria in Las Vegas.)
  • Store design competition extends entry deadline

    The Retail Design Institute has extend the deadline for submission of entries to the International Store Design Competition to March 1, 2017   Design firms and in-house retail design teams from around the globe are invited to submit projects for the Retail Design Institute’s annual competition. Eligible projects are those completed between January 1 and December 31, 2016.     
  • Burlington the latest Sears replacement for PREIT

    Burlington has been announced as the replacement for Sears at PREIT’s Magnolia Mall in Florence, South Carolina. Earlier this month, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Von Maur were introduced as new tenants of Sears spaces that had been recaptured by the Philadelphia-based developer.
