Report: Online retailer’s sample sale gets ‘social’


Specialty retailer Bow & Drape is putting a new spin on how it sells its cheeky merchandise.

The brand, which lets shoppers customize pun-inspired apparel, is rolling out sample sales on Instagram, Glossy said.

The idea evolved after the company used the social media site to move merchandise from a sale that was “snowed out” by a blizzard that hit the Northeast on Feb. 9.

The experience, which resulted in $10,000, prompted Bow & Drape to use Instagram to hold virtual sample sales once a week, starting Thursday, Feb. 16. The brand will also host a “live” founders series on the site where Bow & Drape’s creator Aubrie Pagano will weigh in on specific topics, Glossy said.
