Best Buy starting doorbusters early; will close stores Thanksgiving
Best Buy Co Inc. is launching a major holiday promotion on Halloween and shuttering brick-and-mortar stores Thanksgiving Day.
The consumer electronics giant is kicking off its seasonal holiday doorbuster campaign on Friday, Oct. 31 (Halloween), with a pair of what it is calling "DoorBOOsters." Additional doorbusters will drop on select technology products every Friday of the holiday season and be available on the Best Buy e-commerce site and app as well as in stores.
Members of the My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total loyalty tiers will receive up to $25 in bonus rewards on select doorbuster events this holiday season.

And while Best Buy’s physical locations will be closed Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27), the retailer is starting its Black Friday sale on Thursday, Nov. 20. In addition, Best Buy will offer up to 50% off select technology products during its Cyber Sunday and Monday Sale, beginning Sunday, Nov. 30. Limited-time deals will be available throughout the sale.
Holidays are underway at Best Buy
As it did in 2024, Best Buy started its holiday 2025 promotional campaign in late September. The retailer kicked off the season with a 48-hour flash sale and for the second year in a row, hosted a member-exclusive sale specifically targeting participants in its My Best Buy Memberships loyalty program.
In-store features
Best Buy is also providing a number of special in-store offers and experiences during the holiday season. These include extending a partnership with Meta that offers customers an expanded in-store shopping experience with AI glasses to all locations, as well as immersive showcase areas and expert support for technology in more than 50 stores.
In addition, select stores will have the largest XXL TV screen of 136 inches available, and all stores will have screens of 97 inches and up. Best Buy has also more than doubled the number of laptop and desktop models with AI capabilities, including Copilot+ computers, with more than 16,000 specially trained in-store experts to help and provide information about ways to upgrade to Windows 11.
Other holiday shopping features
- Price match: If the price of products sold by Best Buy goes lower during the holiday season, the retailer will match it under the the Best Buy holiday price match guarantee
- Extended store hours: Starting Sunday, Nov. 2, Best Buy will offer extended store hours, with specific details available on local store webpages.
- Return and exchange: Best Buy’s extended holiday return and exchange policy means most gifts purchased between Oct. 31 through Dec. 31 have an extended return period through Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026. Best Buy Plus and Total members have an extended return period through Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 for most purchases.
