  • Swiss Army retailer plans expansion

    New York City -- Victorinox Swiss Army said Thursday it will open five stores in 2011, the first of which opened July 1 in The Westchester in White Plains, NY.

    According to Joachim Beer, president of global fashion and retail for the chain, future store openings include Boston, Short Hills, N.J., and Los Angeles, all slated to open prior to year end.

  • McDonald’s to build its biggest store ever, in London for 2012 Olympics

    New York City -- McDonald’s Corp. plans to build the largest restaurant in its system as part of its role as official restaurant of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The chain has been an Olympics sponsor since 1976.

    Speaking in a global webcast on July 20, McDonald's UK CEO Jill McDonald said the planned restaurant will span 32,290 sq.-ft. over two levels, and will have a kitchen four times standard size to accommodate the crowds. The chain says it expects to serve 1.75 million meals during the games, which run from July 27 to Aug. 12, 2012.

  • Charter Realty to lease Cross Roads Plaza

    Waterford, Conn. -- Westport, Conn.-based Charter Realty & Development Corp. said it has been hired by Chase Enterprises to lease the 300,000-sq.-ft. Cross Roads Plaza, located in Waterford, Conn.

    Cross Roads Plaza is anchored by Lowe’s, BJ’s, Bob’s and Regal Cinema.
     

  • Two retailers to join Fairview Corners

    Simpsonville, S.C. -- Centro Properties Group US announced two retailers will be joining Fairview Corners, located in Simpsonville, S.C.
     
    Wild Oats Brewery will occupy a 4,556-sq.-ft. space; Upstate Gold Exchange will occupy a 1,500-sq.-ft. space.
     
    Centro Properties Group, based in New York City, is the owner of Fairview Corners.
     

  • Under Armour opens in Madrid

    New York City -- Athletic apparel, footwear and accessories marketer Under Armour has opened its first European outlet store, in Madrid, Spain.

  • Inland Private Capital announces sale of Huntington Square

    Huntington, N.Y. -- Oak Brook, Ill.-based Inland Private Capital Corp. announced Wednesday the $40.2 million sale of Huntington Square Plaza, a grocery-anchored shopping center located in Huntington, N.Y., on Long Island.

    Toronto-based RioCan Holdings purchased the 116,221-sq.-ft. center, which Inland Private Capital Corp. offered to a group of private tenant-in-common investors in 2004.

  • Regency Centers leases 15,000 sq. ft. to six new tenants in Austin

    Austin, Texas -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased 15,000 sq. ft. of retail space in Austin, Texas, to six new tenants.

    Pure Barre opened a 1,750-sq.-ft. studio at North Hills Town Center, bringing the center to 100% occupancy.

  • Regency leases 8,600 sq. ft. to four new tenants in Houston market

    Houston -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased 8,600 sq. ft. of retail space in Houston to four new tenants.

    In The Woodlands, Zoës Kitchen leased 3,018 sq. ft. at Sterling Ridge Village Center, bringing the center to 100% occupancy.  The restaurant is slated to open in December. Optometry office Woodland’s Eye Center leased 2,019 sq. ft. for an October opening at Indian Springs Center, bringing the center to full occupancy.
