  • Jones Lang LaSalle to execute real estate strategic review for Kroger

    Chicago -- Jones Lang LaSalle announced Wednesday that The Kroger Co. is undertaking an initiative with JLL to conduct a strategic review of a group of its retail assets, in tandem with Kroger’s divisional real estate teams, to explore optimization strategies for a select portfolio of operating stores.

    In addition, Jones Lang LaSalle has been selected, among others, to participate in developing disposition strategies for a portion of the retailer’s closed store portfolio.

  • Microsoft to open 75 stores in next two to three years

    New York City -- In an address Wednesday at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference in Los Angeles, COO Kevin Turner said that Microsoft hopes to open 75 freestanding Microsoft stores within the next two to three years.

    “We’re going to open up to 75 more stores over the next two to three years, and continue to bring our stores outside the U.S. as well, so we’ve got a huge opportunity to get the Microsoft story out there, and we’re going to keep driving that,” Turner said.

  • Hhgregg opens 10 new South Florida stores

    Indianapolis -- Hhgregg announced Tuesday that it will open 10 new stores in south Florida, launching simultaneous grand-opening celebrations on July 14.

    The new stores located in Miami, Broward and Palm Beach counties bring the total number of Hhgregg stores in Florida to 33, according to the retailer. The openings are in the communities of Aventura, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Hialeah, Pembroke Pines, Miami, Plantation, Jensen Beach, East Wellington and West Palm Beach.

  • Party City opens at Indio Towne Center

    Indio, Calif. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers announced that Party City has opened Coachella Valley’s first store, at Regency’s Indio Towne Center, in Indio, Calif.

    The new 20,390-sq.-ft. store will open this fall, joining an under-construction Toys “R” Us/Babies “R” Us, also slated to open in the fall.

  • Marcus & Millichap names senior associate

    Houston -- Los Angeles-based Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services said that it has hired Derek Hargrove as a senior associate in the Houston office.

    In his new position, Hargrove focuses on the sale of multi-tenant shopping centers throughout southwest Texas. He also holds the title of associate director of Marcus & Millichap’s National Retail Group.
     

  • West Elm to open pop-up shop

    New York City -- Williams-Sonoma’s West Elm brand will open its first ever pop-up shop, in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., on July 14.

    The 3,300-sq.-ft. store will offer a unique mix of products picked especially for Georgetown and with the small living spaces of nearby colleges and universities in mind.

  • Qdoba opens California location

    Denver -- Qdoba Mexican Grill announced Friday that it has opened a new location at Janss Marketplace, located in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    This is the first Qdoba location in Thousand Oaks, and the 12th location in Southern California for the chain.
