Facebook partners with Netflix, Kristen Bell in home décor promo

    Kristen Bell Netflix

Facebook and Netflix are once again celebrating the new season of a hit show with a curated shopping experience – and this time featuring Hollywood star power.

In an email to Chain Store Age, Facebook said that to mark the upcoming Oct. 22 debut of the third season of the Emmy-nominated Netflix series Nobody Wants This, its Facebook Marketplace resale platform is teaming with Netflix on an integrated campaign that includes a custom shopping component and Hollywood actress Kristen Bell, one of the stars of the series.

Developed by the Rethink creative agency and the Netflix Brand Creative Studio, the campaign, “You Don’t Live in Rom-Com, But You Can Shop Like You Do,” features a promotional film starring Bell reprising her character from the series Joanne, who is searching for a Facebook Marketplace seller who has listed an end table she wants rather than her love interest from the show.

Facebook Marketplace, Netflix and Rethink have also created a custom in-app Nobody Wants This shopping destination with real Facebook Marketplace listings and a specially curated selection of listings with the look and feel of the show. Customers can search “Nobody Wants This” on their Facebook mobile app to try it out.

Facebook Marketplace also curated custom gifts directly from its sellers at a Nobody Wants This “Housewarming Party” in Los Angeles where creators and influencers joined the cast to kick off the new season.

This is not the first promotional collaboration between Facebook and Netflix. For a six-week period running from January to March, Facebook Marketplace marked the fourth season of the Netflix 19th century period romance Bridgerton with themed collections spanning categories including furniture, fashion and tea-time essentials.

Torrid names Belk exec as interim CFO; expert weighs in

    Torrid

Torrid Holdings Inc. will soon see a change in its C-suite.

The larger-size young women’s fashion retailer said that CFO Paula Dempsey has resigned to “pursue another opportunity.“  Dempsey will remain in the role through mid-November to ensure a smooth transition.

Torrid has appointed Will Langley as interim CFO, effective October 28. Langley brings with him 20 years of experience at department store retailer Belk where, most recently, he served as finance chief from January 2020 through May 2025.  Before that, Langley held a series of finance roles of increasing responsibility at Belk.

Torrid is led by Lisa Harper, who took the reins in 2022. Prior to that, she served as CEO of Belk, from 2016 through 2021,

“I am excited to welcome Will to Torrid,” stated Harper. “He is a seasoned finance leader whose breadth of experience and strategic contributions at Belk make him well suited to guide our finance organization. Having worked with Will for many years, I look forward to the perspective he will bring to Torrid as we continue to execute on our priorities.”

In comments, Dylan Carden, an analyst with equity research firm William Blair,  said that Langley’s background could prove “particularly relevant as Torrid moves beyond its store optimization efforts and shifts more of its focus toward improving profitability, managing inventory, and strengthening cash flow against a still-challenging retail backdrop.“

He added that Langley’s experience managing liquidity, debt, and financial restructuring should also bring a useful perspective as Torrid looks to maintain financial flexibility while executing its turnaround, which is in its early stages.

Shoe Carnival parent centralizes hiring for 400-plus stores

    Shoe Carnival

Shoe Station Group is automating manual hiring and human resources tasks formerly done by store managers in a move that has significantly reduced its time to hire.

The parent company of the Shoe Carnival and Shoe Station has moved requisitions, interview scheduling and pipeline analysis from the managers of its more than 420 stores to the mobile-first Cue by Fountain talent and management reporting platform, which is built for companies hiring at volume across hundreds of locations.

As a result, Shoe Station Group says time to hire fell from about 14 days to six days, and applicant drop-off fell from roughly 60% to 35%. Before deploying Fountain technology, the company’s store managers ran hiring by hand. They scheduled their own interviews, conducted their own phone screens and sometimes spent days trying to reach candidates.

Requisitions now open automatically and applicants can reach store systems within minutes. Candidates can book themselves an interview with the store manager, and an offer letter can follow within minutes. The platform also enables text-based communication and Shoe Station can now quickly run one report to take the place of four to five previous manual reports to analyze talent pipeline issues and recommend steps for improvement.

Other retailers are automating and mobile-enabling hiring processes. Earlier this year, 7-Eleven and Ace Hardware both implemented the Workday Paradox Candidate Experience and Paradox Conversational Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) solutions to streamline up to 90% of their hiring tasks, from screening through onboarding, with a faster, text-based hiring experience.

As of August 12, 2026, Shoe Station Group Inc. operated 422 stores in 35 states and Puerto Rico under its Shoe Carnival and Shoe Station banners. The company is headquartered in Fort Mill, S.C., with distribution and support operations located in Evansville, Ind.
