    Personalization is at the core of Buckle’s success.    However, engaging customers differently requires a deep understanding of each shopper, and leveraging specific details to foster long-term relationships. Buckle is improving its personalization efforts through a new cloud-based solution designed to create the high-touch, individualized shopping experiences the chain has built its brand on.  
  • C-suite tech moves at Nordstrom

    Nordstrom is realigning and streamlining its top technology positions.    The company said that Dan Little, Nordstrom’s chief information officer, plans to retire next fall. Little joined Nordstrom in 2002, as VP, supply chain strategy. He was named to his current position in 2014.  
  • Advance Auto Parts exec to head wireless retail chain

    A Wireless, which operates more than 1,140 Verizon-branded stores in 46 states, has appointed 26-year retail veteran George Sherman as its new CEO.   Most recently, Sherman was president and also served as interim CEO for Advance Auto Parts. Prior to that, he was senior VP, global services and president, Best Buy Services for Best Buy from 2009 until 2013.  
  • Report: Retailers lag in digital transformation

    Nearly half of retailer leaders will be out of business if they don’t transform themselves digitally.   This is according to “Reinventing Retail: Cisco Reveals How Stores Can Surge Ahead on the Digital Transformation Journey,” a study based on data from 200 retail executives from North and South America and regions of Europe. Companies represent brick-and-mortar retailers, e-commerce, apparel manufacturers, food service and other segments of retail.  
  • 7-Eleven to expand in New Jersey

    7-Eleven is in the process of widening its presence in New Jersey from the New York City suburbs to southern shore towns.   The convenience store chain’s leasing company in the area, R.J. Brunelli, says it is searching for 2,800-sq.-ft. to 3,000-sq.-ft. free-standing or end cap units in Union, Ocean, Monmouth, Mercer, and Middlesex counties. Suburban sites must be situated on roads with minimum traffic counts of 15,000 vehicles a day and must have lot sizes of at least 12,000 sq. ft. to accommodate 10 parking spaces.

  • Luxury home décor brand to open experiential store

    Frontgate is looking to create a unique shopping experience at its new location in Dallas.       The luxury home decor and furnishings retailer will open what it called its first experiential store in late May, in the Dallas suburbs. The 22,000-sq.-ft. store will be located at Legacy West, a luxury retail development in Plano, Texas.     Frontgate reaches most shoppers through its catalogs and website. The also company operates a handful of brick-and-mortar locations. 
  • Survey: Shopping in stores a ‘chore’ for many consumers

    When did washing dishes become more attractive than shopping?   In-store shopping has lost its allure for many shoppers, who are increasingly frustrated with brick-and-mortar stores that lack the convenience of online players, according to a new global report from Capgemini’s Digital Transformation Institute.
