    Absolunet has released its list of the top 10 e-commerce trends that will impact North American retailers in 2017. The e-commerce agency noted that the impact of the trends will be felt online and in stores, and by retailers and consumers alike.     Here is Absolunet’s top 10 list:    1. The end of Black Friday and Cyber Monday: Tech–savvy merchants are replacing Black Friday and Cyber Monday with Cyber November;
  • Tips for Success in a ‘Free Shipping’ Environment

    Here’s a daunting statistic: The value of merchandise ordered via same-day delivery is expected to exceed $4 billion by 2018 — it was $100 million in 2014. The big reason for this jump is the grueling pace set by Amazon Prime Now, which offers two-hour delivery for consumers in 27 US markets and counting.   
  • Macy’s rolling out off-price pop-ups for holidays

    Macy’s is expanding its off-price concept, Macy’s Backstage, in a pop-up format.   In a test, the department store retailer is placing Backstage pop-ups in 45 existing Macy's stores in time for the holiday shopping season, the Cincinnati Business Journal reported.  
  • Home Depot beats Street in Q3

    The Home Depot on Tuesday reported sales and earnings for its third quarter that exceeded forecasts.    The world’s largest home improvement retailer posted a double-digit increase in earnings during the quarter, which it characterized as a balanced across-the-board period of growth.    Net sales jumped 6.1% to $23.2 billion, compared to $21.8 billion in the same quarter last year.   Comparable-store sales in the U.S. increased 5.9%. 
  • Retail Lighting: LEDs and wireless controls are key to the future

    Lighting is fundamental to any retail store, whether that is for setting a scene and influencing how a brand is perceived, or even encouraging shoppers to make a particular purchase. However, if not managed correctly, it can be extremely expensive. In fact, lighting accounts for around 53% off all electricity consumption in a typical retail outlet, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.  
  • Amazon expands home services

    Consumers in more cities will soon be able to turn to the nation’s largest e-commerce retailer to find help for home chores and services.   Amazon said it is expanding Amazon Home Services into 20 new metropolitan areas across the country, including Indianapolis; Las Vegas; San Antonio, Texas; Ann Arbor, Mich.; Cleveland, Ohio; Trenton, N.J., and more. Launched in 2015, the service now includes providers from almost 60 professions offering more than 1,200 unique services.  
  • Whole Foods wooing shoppers with in-store restaurants, bars

    Whole Foods Market is upping its game.   In the face of growing competition, the supermarket chain has been adding restaurants, bars and tap rooms to its stores, reported The Orange County Register.    In select locations in California, Whole Foods is adding in-store outposts of a popular fast-casual eatery, Mendocino Farms, to its stores.

    Macerich is rolling out a plug-and-play concept that allows it to bring new retailers to its centers in a most untraditional way.    The mall owner announced it is expanding its portfolio for WithMe, an interactive physical store platform that allows brands to set up  limited-time shops in a most expedient way. WithMe offers brands a fully portable, pre-fabricated and high-tech retail environment that blend the best of online and offline shopping.
