  • Retail Performance Pulse report shows holiday traffic decline

    San Jose, Calif. -- Despite some surprising showings over the holiday 2014 shopping season, a report by RetailNext said that overall traffic at brick-and-mortar stores dipped 7.1% for the Nov. 30-Jan. 3 shopping period.

    The newly released Retail Performance Pulse also showed a 6.5% year-over-year decrease in sales.

  • PacSun rides sales wave against profit undertow

    Pacific Sunwear said it will lose less money in the fourth quarter than originally expected after its California lifestyle product assortment resonated with holiday shoppers and drove a 9% same store sales increase.

  • Target enjoys many digital returns for holidays

    Minneapolis – Target Corp. enjoyed many digital returns during the 2014 holiday season, as the retailer broke seasonal digital sales records. Target.com sales on the all-important Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping days were up 40% from 2013.

  • Pure Barre to open three New Jersey locations

    New York -- Dance-related fitness franchise Pure Barre will expand its base of 275 current locations by opening new spaces in three New Jersey markets — Denville, Short Hills and New Providence.

    Winick Realty Group’s Gary Krauss is the exclusive broker representing Pure Barre in Northern New Jersey and he negotiated each of the three leases on behalf of the brand.

  • Study: Video boosts e-commerce performance

    Vinings, Ga. - Video’s ability to engage shoppers, and increase conversion rate and revenue, makes it a valuable e-commerce tool. According to a study of 26 retail clients during second quarter 2014 from video commerce solutions provider Liveclicker, the average order value (AOV) for customers that watch video on a product page is at least 50% higher than a site’s overall AOV for 57% of retailers.

  • Survey: Security is top spending priority of CIOs in 2015

    New York -- For the second consecutive year, security ranks as the top spending priority of CIOs in an annual survey by PiperJaffray, with 75% of respondents expecting to increase spending in 2015, up from 50% last year.  

    The results reflect Network (firewall) and endpoint security were the top two segments of the market expected to see an increase in spending.

  • APT: Holiday in-store sales rise 0.7%

    Washington, D.C. – The holidays were at least moderately happy for in-store retailers. According to the Applied Predictive Technologies (APT) Index, in-store sales for the 2014 holiday shopping season were up 0.7% although sales decreased on Black Friday and Super Saturday weekends.

    The number of transactions: actually declined 0.4%, but this was more than offset by a 1.1% increase in average purchase amount. Black Friday weekend retail sales were down -3.5%, while Super Saturday weekend retail sales were down -1.7%.

  • comScore: Total desktop holiday spend up 15%

    Reston, Va. -- Retail e-commerce spending from desktop computers for the entire November-December 2014 holiday season totaled $53.3 billion, up 15% from the corresponding days last year.
