  • Moviehouse & Eatery to build 10-screen movie theater at Craig Ranch

    McKinney, Texas -- CBRE | UCR announced that Moviehouse & Eatery has purchased 6.78 acres of land at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The land is located at the northeast quadrant of Custer Road and Highway 121.

    Moviehouse will build a 40,000-sq.-ft., 10-screen movie theater to open in May 2016. This will be the theater’s third location in DFW.
     

  • Pet Supplies Plus signs new franchise agreements; plans 200 stores in five years

    Livonia, Mich. -- Pet Supplies Plus, the nation’s largest pet retail franchise with more than 300 locations in 25 states, announced it has signed six new franchise agreements to bring its neighborhood pet store concept to Boca Raton, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Stephenville, Texas; Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Hartland, Michigan and Greenville, South Carolina.
     

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods to open 135 to 150 stores in next three years

    Pittsburgh – As part of a wide-ranging fiscal update, Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. is updating its fiscal 2017 sales target to $8.7 billion to $9 billion. The retailer also expects to open 135-150 namesake stores during the next three years, up from the 603 stores it operated at the end of 2014, focusing on new and underserved markets.  

  • A match made at Meijer helps with hunger

    Meijer is incenting customers to make generous donations to hunger relief organizations by offering to double their contributions.

    As part of the retailer’s Simply Give hunger relief program, plans call for Meijer to contribute $20 every time a customer donates $10 resulting in a combined $30 donation to local food pantries. The company conducts its Simply Given campaign three times a year. The Spring effort runs through May 7 but the generous matching offer is good April 17-18.

  • Ace Hardware opens Ace Center for Excellence

    Oak Brook, Ill. - Ace Hardware has launched the Ace Center for Excellence, a new division designed to share the retailer’s strategies and key principles of customer service.

    The center’s goal is to help companies improve upon their customer experience based on Ace’s approach through customized solutions, such as keynotes and workshops.

  • The Walking Company personalizes store experience with Epicor

    Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Walking Company, has selected Epicor Retail solutions to support a more personalized in-store customer experience. The retailer has deployed Epicor Retail CRM 7.0 to support the launch of its new loyalty program, and Epicor Retail Clienteling to support improved store associate/customer engagement.

    The Walking Company is also rolling out the Epicor Retail Store Point of Sale (POS) solution across its 210-plus store retail enterprise.

  • Guitar Center sings a different credit tune

    Aspiring musicians with big dreams but no way to pay for them now have options thanks to a new credit initiative launched at the nation’s leading musical instrument retailer.

    Guitar Center, operator of 260 stores nationwide, and Synchrony Bank, formerly GE Capital Retail Finance, reached a multi-year agreement that allows Guitar Center to provide a private label credit card program. The program is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2015 and also includes a stipulation that Synchrony Bank acquire the assets of an existing card program.

  • Joly to chair Best Buy board

    Minneapolis – Best Buy president and CEO Hubert Joly now has something in common with Frank Sinatra — you can call him “Chairman of the Board.” Joly will succeed current chairman Hatim Tyabji, who is retiring from the board effective June 9, 2015, as board chairman.

    Russell P. Fradin, president and CEO of SunGard and a Best Buy Board member since April 2013, will serve as lead independent director. Tyajbi, CEO of mobile data/video company Bytemobile Inc., has served on the Best Buy board since 2008 and as chairman since 2012.
