    Scheduled to launch April 11, Boutique Africaine will serve as an online marketplace for ethnic clothing, accessories, and home and living items – and serve as yet another reminder of how the Internet enables the creation of new retail business models to serve the perceived unmet needs of niche consumer segments.

  • Food Lion hits 1 million Facebook fans, provides meals

    Food Lion is feeling good about recently reaching the milestone of 1 million Facebook fans, and is sharing the positive vibes.

    In recognition of this social media achievement, Food Lion is donating 1 million meals to those in need. The meals will be donated to Feeding America in the form of a monetary donation (Feeding America provides an average of 11 meals for every dollar donated) and distributed evenly among 30 local Feeding America member food banks within the grocer's service area. The donation will span across its 10-state footprint.

    Target is debuting its new Who What Wear fashion collection this week and a stylish group gathered in New York City to celebrate the highly anticipated launch and take a sneak peek at the line.

    A star-studded event last week included actress and The  Honest Company founder Jessica Alba, actresses Kate Bosworth and Jaime King and Target Stylist Zanna Roberts Rassi, who hosted a livestream of the event on Periscope.

  • Macy's and Etsy open a millennial magnet in Manhattan

    Macy's has partnered with one of the hottest online retailers to open a pop-up shop of handmade wares at its legendary store in Manhattan.

    A team of buyers from Macy's hand-selected more than 50 products from eight designers for the new Etsy Shop at Macy's in Herald Square. The assortment features stationery, jewelry and homewares, and also includes five unique items designed exclusively for Macy’s from Sol del Sur, Meera Lee Patel, and Modern Mud.

  • CBRE hires global executive of Retail Occupier, EMEA

    London -- CBRE Group Inc. has appointed Mark Burlton as Global Executive of its Retail Occupier team, EMEA. Burlton will lead the development of CBRE’s Retail Occupier business in Europe, as well as advising its European retail clients on expansion into the US and Asia, and international retailers into Europe.

    Burlton will be based in London and work closely with Peter Gold, head of cross border retail, EMEA and David Close, senior director, EMEA occupier cross border. He will also join CBRE’s Global Retail Executive Group.
