  • And now a message about merchandise execution

    Matt Kistler is in a relatively new role at Walmart as SVP of merchandise execution and to explain what that means he is on the agenda for an upcoming event presented by Doing Business in Bentonville.

    Kistler is scheduled to speak on February 8 at the DBB event which runs from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and will be held at the John Q. Hammons Center. He is expected to provide an overview of Walmart’s merchandise services unit that was created last year.

  • Safeway announces change in leadership at Von’s

    Pleasanton, Calif. -- Safeway announced that Tom Keller, president of the company's Vons Division, will retire after more than 40 years of  service in the food industry, effective Feb. 1.

    Gary Rocheleau, currently VP, retail merchandising execution, will lead Vons on an interim basis.

  • Great American Group names VP for retail services sector

    Woodland Hills, Calif. — Great American Group, a provider of asset disposition, valuation and appraisal services, has appointed Mike Wyse to a new VP position at the company.

    In the new role, Wyse will focus on generating revenue through the cross-promotion of all Great American Group’s services with an emphasis on the retail services sector. 

  • ShopperTrak mobile app offers retailers access to key data on the go

    NEW YORK — Retailers that are looking to access their store sales and foot traffic now can do so anywhere and anytime with a new, free mobile application from ShopperTrak.

    ShopperTrak said its new mobile app provides retailers with remote access to the following data &mdashh; key metrics, hourly performance and ShopperTrak Power Hours — which are displayed in an easy-to-navigate graph enhanced by charts. Additionally, the app also provides free weekly foot traffic reports for five major U.S. markets for non-ShopperTrak customers.

  • Mid-America Real Estate names new partners

    Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. -- Mid-America Real Estate Corp. announced the promotions of two senior VPs to partners.

    Andy Bulson is responsible for the management of Mid-America’s Suburban Tenant Representation Team, representing numerous national retailers throughout the Chicagoland area. Dan Tausk oversees Mid-America’s Urban Retail Team, representing both retail landlords and tenants in urban Chicago and its neighborhoods.

  • American Apparel selects Oracle applications to support global retail channels

    Redwood Shores, Calif. -- American Apparel has chosen Oracle ATG Web Commerce and Oracle ATG Web Commerce Customer Service applications to help grow its global, multi-channel retail business. The apparel retailer will use Oracle's ATG Web Commerce to personalize the customer experience across all channels, including the web, contact center, mobile devices, social media and in stores.

  • JLL expands Chicagoland retail portfolio

    Atlanta -- Jones Lang LaSalle said it has been named as the exclusive management and leasing provider for Townline Square, a 216,000-sq.-ft. community center located in Mundelein, Ill., and anchored by Jewel-Osco.

    JLL’s retail portfolio in Chicagoland has grown to more than six million sq. ft. At Townline Square, Jones Lang LaSalle will manage a redevelopment of the property, which includes façade renovations, new landscaping and signage upgrades all of which are designed to increase tenant occupancy and drive sales.

  • 7-Eleven implements mobile solution from On The Spot Systems

    Boston -- On The Spot Systems, a mobile systems provider, announced that 7-Eleven is using its Survey on the Spot mobile survey platform to capture feedback from managers in the field. 7-Eleven recognized the critical importance of gaining timely and accurate market-level data in order to make better business decisions and began using the mobile survey system in March, according to On The Spot Systems.
