  • Five former Borders locations are re-tenanted

    New York City -- Brixmor Property Group said Friday that four national tenants – Books-A-Million, Big Lots, Dick’s Sporting Goods and REI – will occupy former Borders locations in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan and North Carolina.

  • Pet Supplies “Plus” names real estate exec

    Farmington Hills, Mich. -- Pet Supplies “Plus” said Tuesday that Donna Capichano Simmons has joined the company as senior VP real estate.

    Capichano Simmons, who was previously VP real estate development for Kohl’s, is charged with refining and implementing PSP’s real estate growth strategy.
     

  • Zale names new real estate head

    DALLAS — Zale Corp. announced that Subha Ramesh has been named SVP real estate. Ramesh will report to Matt Appel, chief administrative officer.

  • True Value profit rises 3.4% in Q3

    Chicago -- True Value Co. reported Tuesday that profit for the third quarter increased 3.4% to $18.1 million, compared with $17.5 million in the year-ago period.

    Revenue rose 3.6% to $445.7 million, from $430.2 million.

    According to the cooperative, 788,000 sq. ft. of retail space has been covered to its recommended Destination True Value prototype so far this fiscal year, up 13.5 % from 694,000 sq. ft. last year.
     

  • Darrell Johnson named Heineken USA senior director of regional marketing

    WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Heineken USA has appointed a new senior director of regional marketing.

    In his new role, Darrell Johnson will work with brand marketing, trade marketing activation and the regional marketing directors to develop a strategy and process for local programming that ensures consistent execution against national brand strategy at the local level, the company said.

    Johnson will report to Heineken VP trade marketing and sales strategy Kheri Tillman.

  • Harlem Wine Gallery to open in NYC

    New York City -- Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group said Wednesday it has a arranged a long-term lease for The Harlem Wine Gallery at 752 Saint Nicholas Avenue, between 147th and 148th Streets in New York City.

    The transaction is the second wine and spirit shop that the team has arranged on the corridor in recent months, following Unity Wines & Spirits at 704 Saint Nicholas Avenue.
     
     

  • Dick's Sporting Goods opens two New York stores

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced that Dick’s Sporting Goods has executed leases and opened stores with affiliates of Forest City Enterprises at two projects in Metro New York.

    A 49,286-sq.-ft. Dick’s opened at Forest City Ratner’s Ridge Hill project in Yonkers, N.Y., anchoring the one million-sq.-ft. center.

    A 35,685-sq.-ft. Dick’s also opened in Staten Island, in a freestanding location in front of Staten Island Mall.

  • Books-A-Million to open 41 locations

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Books-A-Million (BAM), which has been taking over the leases of former Borders locations, will transform 41 of the sites into BAM stores in early November. Most the locations, which are across the nation, represent new markets for the bookseller.
