  • Cabela's revenue, income up in Q1

    SIDNEY, Neb. — Cabela's revenue for the first quarter increased 6.3% to $623.5 million and included a retail store revenue increase of 14.4% to $345.3 million and a direct revenue decrease of 8.3% to $190.2 million. For the quarter, comparable-store sales increased 4.2%.

    The company reported that net income increased 62% to $28.8 million compared with $17.8 million in the year ago quarter, and earnings per diluted share were 40 cents compared with 25 cents in the year ago quarter.

  • T.J. Maxx to open new location at Southbury Plaza

    Southbury, Conn. -- Real estate firm RHYS Commercial announced that T.J. Maxx has signed a long-term lease to open a 22,000-sq.-ft. store at Southbury Plaza, located in Southbury, Conn.

    Southbury Plaza, owned by Gatto Development Corp., is a 300,000-sq.-ft. shopping center anchored by Stop & Shop Supermarket, Kmart and Panera Bread.
     

  • Parmida Home debuts in Virginia

    Fredericksburg, Va. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. announced that Parmida Home will open a new store at The Village at Towne Centre, near Fredericksburg, Va.

    The 6,900-sq.-ft. store is slated to open in early November across from Sephora.

    The Village at Towne Centre is the outdoor shopping district of Spotsylvania Towne Centre, a 1.7 million-sq.-ft. complex offering more than 120 department stores, specialty shops, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues.
     

  • Target finds exclusive tune with Norah Jones

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target is partnering with Norah Jones for a deluxe edition of her fifth studio album, “Little Broken Hearts.” The Target deluxe edition of “Little Broken Hearts” is available now for pre-order at Target.com/NorahJones and will be offered at Target stores nationwide beginning May 1.

  • Medicine Bow Furnishings opens at Promenade Shops at Centerra

    Loveland, Colo. -- The Promenade Shops at Centerra, located in Loveland, Colo., announced that Medicine Bow Furnishings has opened a new store at the south end of the center, across from Barnes & Noble.

    The Promenade Shops at Centerra features over 72 shopping, dining and entertainment destinations.
     

  • Kolletti Bambini opens at Malibu Country Mart

    Malibu, Calif. -- Southern California lifestyle center Malibu Country Mart welcomed Kolletti Bambini, a boutique specializing in designer clothing and accessories for children and infants.

    The 630-sq.-ft. boutique opened on April 20.
     
    Malibu County Mart features 90,000 sq. ft. of high-end retail, dining and services housed in an eclectic mix of architectural styles including Mediterranean, modern and rustic influences. 
     

  • Jones Group swings to loss on charges in Q1

    New York -- Jones Group Inc. reported Wednesday that it swung to a first-quarter loss of $1.2 million, compared with a profit of $25.7 million in the year-ago period. Costs of closing stores, paying severance, acquisitions and a strategic review impacted the results, which still surpassed analysts’ expectations.

    Revenue for the manufacturer and retailer of brands such as Nine West, Jones New York and Stuart Weitzman slipped 2.6% to $936 million in the quarter ended March 31, missing Wall Street’s expected $937.3 million in revenue.

  • Sears expands 'Scrubology' shops

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings has expanded the availability of its in-store professional apparel shop to 91 Sears and Kmart stores nationwide. The concept, called, "Scrubology," is already open in 39 stores and offers work apparel and uniforms for professionals in industrial, service and healthcare fields.

    The concept is a partnership with Work 'N Gear.
