  • Finish Line races ahead

    Indianapolis – The Finish Line Inc. finished ahead of Wall Street expectations for profit and revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2016. Net income rose 29% to $13.73 million from $10.65 million in the prior year period.

    A higher gross profit, as well as significantly lower impairment and store closing charges, drove the increase in net income. Net sales grew 9% to $443.39 million from $406.53 million. Same-store sales at the Finish Line banner increased 5.5%.

    The CEO of the Finish Line Inc. says the company is poised for consistent growth and increased profitability after posting an increase in same store sales in the first quarter.

    The Finish Line Inc. said profit rose 11% in the first quarter ended May 30. Same store sales rose 5.5%.

  • Nordstrom Rack coming to Hawaii development

    Seattle – Nordstrom Inc. plans to open Nordstrom Rack at Waikiki Trade Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The approximately 34,000-sq.-ft., two-level store is scheduled to open in spring 2016.

    The property was acquired by Coastwood Capital Group, LLC in late 2013.

  • Foot Locker nets campaign with budding NBA star

    It doesn't really matter whether shoppers are familiar with hoops star Emmanuel Mudiay yet, because Foot Locker is launching a campaign that explains everything.

    The specialty athletic retailer has launched a YouTube video campaign called "Life Changes After the Draft" – a series of four, 15-second commercials with Under Armour featuring top-NBA Draft prospect Emmanuel Mudiay.

  • Report: The money behind women’s closet doors

    New York -- Women have a real investment hiding in their closets, according to a survey by Alliance Data’s Card Services business, which manages store-brand credit card programs for retailers.

    One-fourth of survey respondents indicated the total value of the items in their closet to be from $1,000 to $2,499, and 17% valued the contents between $5,000 and $9,999.  

  • Eddie Bauer comes to Legacy Place center in Massachusetts

    Dedham, Mass. – The Legacy Place shopping center is opening an Eddie Bauer location on July 2. The Legacy Place store will feature outerwear, apparel, footwear, gear, and accessories for men and women.
