  • Report: Starbucks may reconsider U.K. tax payments

    New York -- Starbucks Coffee Co. is considering changes to its tax practices in the U.K. in the wake of criticism from lawmakers, tax campaigners and the media, according to Reuters.

    A Reuters examination of Starbucks accounts that was made public in October showed that the chain had reported 13 years of losses at its U.K. unit, even as it told investors the operation was profitable and among the best performing of its overseas markets, the report said.

  • Chestnut Hill Shopping Center renamed ‘The Street’

    Chestnut Hill, Mass. - To better reflect its transformation into a walkable retail destination that seeks to be the new downtown in the heart of Chestnut Hill, Mass., the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center has been renamed "The Street," owner/manager WS Development announced today.

    With nearly ½ mile of frontage along Route 9, The Street was one of New England's first shopping centers when it opened in 1950. The Street's redevelopment continues to place it at the forefront of retail destinations both locally and beyond.

  • Dillard’s joins line-up for The Shops at Summerlin

    Dallas -- The Howard Hughes Corp. and Dillard’s announced that the department store is the latest anchor to be part of The Shops at Summerlin, in West Las Vegas Valley. Dillard’s will build a two-level, 200,000-sq.-ft. foot in the center, with opening scheduled for fall 2014.

  • DJM Capital Partners to develop retail/hotel project

    Huntington Beach, Calif. -- DJM Capital Partners announced that it has acquired about 11 acres from Crescent Heights for the retail and hotel portion of a planned mixed-use development Pacific City.

    The company said it plans to develop on the original footprint and with almost 6.5 acres for 191,000 sq. ft. of open-air retail, restaurants and entertainment and four acres for an eight-story hotel.

    Delray Beach, Fla. -- Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group announced that It'Sugar has leased 2,027 sq. ft. at Delray Marketplace located in Delray Beach, Fla.

  • TCBY to open flagship and training center in Colorado

    Broomfield, Colo. -- TCBY, The Country's Best Yogurt will open a flagship in Broomfield, Colo., which will also serve as the company's training center for its domestic and international franchisees.

  • Kuapay launches mobile payment solution at KFC/Taco Bell locations

    Santa Monica, Calif. -- Mobile payment platform provider Kuapay said Thursday it has launched a new payment system at 14 KFC/Taco Bell restaurants in the Los Angeles area.

    Duapay and franchisee Great American Chicken Corp launched the system in order to make smartphone ordering and payment faster and easier. The launch follows a two-month pilot program and encompasses locations in Los Angeles County, Orange County and the Ontario area.

  • New Denny’s in Las Vegas has in-house wedding chapel

    Las Vegas -- Denny has opened a  flagship diner, called "Denny's on Fremont," on Freemont Street in downtown Las Vegas. Among other attractions, the one-of-a-kind diner: boasts an in-house wedding chapel.
