  • Dunkin’ Donuts details California expansion

    Canton, Mass. — Dunkin’ Donuts has filed for permits to open its first traditional restaurants in California. The new restaurants are planned for Downey, Long Beach, Modesto, Santa Monica and Whittier.

  • lululemon to Town Center of Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, Va. — lululemon has leased a 3,200-sq.-ft. store at the Town Center of Virginia Beach. Like recently announced Anthropologie and Free People, lululemon will be the first and only store of its kind to open in Hampton roads, Virginia. In addition, Destination Maternity and It’s Sugar recently opened at The Town Center. lululemon plans to open during the fourth quarter of this year.

  • Wal-Mart comments on weekend shooting in Las Vegas, accident in New Jersey

    New York — Wal-Mart Stores found itself at the center of two national news stories this past weekend, both of which involved fatalities.

     On Saturday, June 7, a truck driver for Walmart was charged in the highway crash that left comedian Tracy Morgan critically injured and killed one of Morgan’s associates, comedian James McNair.

  • Panera launches three-year share repurchase program

    St. Louis — The Panera Bread Company board of directors has approved a new three-year share repurchase program of up to $600 million. This new program will replace an existing program which was scheduled to expire on Aug. 23, 2015 and has been terminated by the board of directors in connection with approving the new program.

    The repurchases will be effected from time to time. The share repurchase program and the board's authorization of the program may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

  • Seattle raises minimum wage to $15 an hour; highest in United States

    New York -- The Seattle City Council on Monday unanimously voted to raise the minimum wage in the city to $15 an hour, making it the highest municipal minimum wage in the country. The measure, which takes effect on April 1, 2015, will be phased in over the next three to seven years depending on the size of the business, with a slower process for small businesses.

  • Wendy’s completes social film promotion

    Dublin, Ohio - The final installment of Wendy's first-ever digital short film, "L'Estrella de la Toscana" – The Star of Tuscany, featuring the new Tuscan Chicken on Ciabatta sandwich, premiered this week on Wendy's Facebook Page and YouTube channel. To promote the sandwich, Wendy's created a three-part video series that gives homage to dramatic Italian cinema of the 1960s.

    Throughout April and May, Wendy's asked consumers to be its screenwriters by submitting captions on social media to subtitle the Italian-dialogue video.  

  • Firehouse Subs enters Charlottesville, Virginia, market

    Charlottesville, Va. — Firehouse Subs has signed a 2,264-sq.-ft. lease for its first location in Charlottesville, Virginia — at 100 Shoppers World Court.

    Divaris Real Estate’s Richmond, Virginia, office represented Firehouse Subs in the transaction. Divaris (www.divaris.com) has represented Firehouse in the site selection and lease negotiations for the majority of its Hampton Roads sites and for several locations in the greater Richmond area.

  • Macy’s to anchor new mall in Hawaii

    Cincinnati -- Macy’s announced an agreement for Macy’s to anchor the new Ka Makana Ali‘i in Kapolei in West O‘ahu, Hawaii. Current plans call for the 103,000-sq.-ft., one-level store to open in mid-2016.
