  • Englewood Construction’s 2014 forecast sees return of large, mixed-use projects

    Chicago -- Upward growth in large-scale, new construction projects as well as an uptick in fine dining and hospitality construction, is predicted for 2014, according to Englewood Construction’s Commercial Construction Forecast 2014.

  • Starbucks opens India flagship in Bangalore Nov. 23

    Bangalore, India - Tata Starbucks Limited, the 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company and Tata Global Beverages Limited, opens a new India flagship store in Bangalore on Saturday, Nov. 23.

    In addition to the flagship store at Koramangala, Tata Starbucks Limited will open two more stores by the end of the year at Phoenix Market City and Orion Mall at Brigade Gateway in Bangalore.

  • Report: N.Y. appeals court says Starbucks baristas must share tips

    Seattle – The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in New York has reportedly ruled that Starbucks baristas must share their tips with supervisors. According to the Associated Press, the ruling supports a lower court finding that baristas at Starbucks must share tips with shift supervisors, since the supervisors do much of the same work as the baristas.

  • DSW signs inks 20,000-sq.-ft. deal in Tempe, Ariz.

    Phoenix — DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse has taken 20,000 sq. ft. at Tempe Marketplace in Tempe, Ariz., according the CBRE, which represented DSW in the negotiations. Vestar represented Tempe Marketplace.

    Developed by Vestar in 2007, Tempe Marketplace is an interactive shopping, dining and entertainment destination featuring 1.3 million sq. ft. of retail space. The tenant list now includes DSW plus Target, Cost Plus World Market, Old Navy, J.C. Penney, Gap and Best Buy. It is also the first Arizona location for Dave & Busters.

     

  • TitleMax, Curry in a Hurry sign DC Metro leases

    Rockville, Md. — TitleMax, a title lending company, and Curry in a Hurry have signed leases in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, according to Divaris Real Estate, which represented both tenants in the transactions.

    TitleMax took 1,850 sq. ft. in Manassas Park Center in Manassas Park, Va. TitleMax has more than 1,000 stores in 12 states.

    Curry in a Hurry leased 1,706 sq. ft. in Southbridge Plaza in Dumfries, Va. Curry in a Hurry joins Quiznos, Five Guys, Pizza Boli’s and Mandrian Court.

  • Chicago hospital opens retail and dining development

    Chicago — Northwestern Memorial Hospital has completed the first phase of “Shop & Dine Northwestern,” a 70,000-sq.-ft. retail and restaurant development. The new facilities feature Chicago-based healthy quick service, fine dining and specialty retailers throughout the medical campus, which stands just one block east of Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile shopping district.   • ARCP hires retail real estate vet

    New York -- American Retail Capital Properties (ARCP) has appointed Glenn Kindred as executive VP of its restaurants division. Kindred will join Nicholas S. Schorsch, executive chairman and CEO, Lisa Beeson, COO, Brian S. Block, CFO, and Lisa Pavelka McAlister, chief accounting officer, as part of ARCP's self-managed executive team. Joining ARCP from GE Capital, Mr. Kindred will oversee ARCP's growing portfolio of restaurant and quick service assets.  

  • MarineMax names Denny’s exec to board

    Clearwater, Fla. – Recreational boat retailer MarineMax has named Frances Allen, executive VP and chief brand officer for Denny’s Corporation, to its board of directors. Prior to joining Denny’s, Allen was chief marketing officer for Dunkin Donuts. Her prior roles also include managing marketing efforts at Sony Ericsson Mobil Communications, Pepsi-Cola North America and Frito-Lay.
