LensCrafters rolls out new Roblox experience for virtual ‘tycoons’
LensCrafters is building on its presence on the popular Roblox immersive gaming platform.
The company, which is part of EssilorLuxottica and one of the largest optical retail brands in North America, is launching what is known as a "tycoon" game on Roblox. In Roblox, a tycoon game lets players grow a business by earning and reinvesting virtual currency, often through idle or incremental gameplay.
The new LensCrafters game is called "LensCrafters: Vision Tycoon" and allows players to build, manage, and expand their own virtual LensCrafters stores within the Roblox metaverse environment.
Users enter the experience through "LensCrafters Plaza," a central hub for brand activations, special events and access to previously launched LensCrafters mini-games. From there, players are assigned their own plot of land where they manage their own LensCrafters stores, hire employees, expand product offerings and build new spaces. As they grow their business, players earn points to climb the leaderboard and unlock in-game rewards, including exclusive user-generated content items and power-ups.
According to LensCrafters, the new game is aligned with its commitment to eye health and the experience includes reminders to help prevent digital eye strain. The retailer debuted on Roblox in 2023 with “LensCrafters Eye Odyssey,” a virtual obstacle course game designed to introduce children to eye care.

The company followed up in 2024 with “LensCrafters Eye Odyssey: World of Optics,” which enables customers to interactively assist Blinky, a friendly eye-bulb character, overcome challenges caused by prolonged exposure to screens and learn how to maintain healthy vision by adopting appropriate eye care habits.
"Eye Odyssey: World of Optics" features LensCrafters tech-focused Palo Alto flagship serving as the backdrop upon entering and engages users via a dedicated pathway that opens to a fantasy map in which users can play five arcade-style mini-games designed to reflect some tests and aspects of a comprehensive eye exam
According to LensCrafters, its immersive experiences have attracted more than 900,000 visits in total.

LensCrafters was founded in 1983 and currently operates more than 1,000 stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The retailer opened its first Macy's location in April 2016 and currently has five flagship stores in New York City, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Calif. and Toronto, its first flagship in Canada which opened in July 2023.
