Catering and meal boxes
This holiday season, DoorDash is also expanding its catering offering to consumers and workplaces across the U.S. Catering customers can order from a variety of national and local restaurants (including P.F. Chang’s and Ike’s Love & Sandwiches).
Catering orders can be placed up to 14 days in advance for groups of 10 to 150-plus people with real-time delivery tracking, a 100% on-time money-back guarantee, and 24/7 support. There are no delivery fees, although other service fees apply. Delivery drivers can help with light catering setup when they arrive.
In addition, the Ask DoorDash AI assistant will provide individualized catering recommendations for menu, restaurant and portion size, a Meal Manager tool enables corporate catering customers to organize and manage recurring team lunches, and a new connector for corporate ordering lets companies connect DoorDash to compatible internal AI tools they already use.
DoorDash is also allowing restaurant partners to offer Meal Boxes at a fixed $12 item subtotal with $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees. Each Meal Box includes a full-sized entrée, often featuring a protein, vegetable and a carbohydrate, with options varying by restaurant and cuisine. Meal Boxes are designed to drive a steady stream of everyday orders and introduce restaurants to new customers.
DoorDash has entered a definitive agreement to purchase Instacart in a transaction valued at roughly $17 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, expected to take effect in late 2027 or early 2028 pending regulatory approval, Instacart shareholders will receive $65 per share.
