Physical retail will be in the spotlight at Chain Store Age’s annual SPECS Show, which will be held March 3-5, 2019, at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine (Dallas), Texas.

Only one retailer made the top 20 in a ranking that highlights the top 50 U.S. companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating outstanding respect, care and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment.

For the third consecutive year, a regional supermarket operator has nabbed the top spot in an annual consumer study.

The chief executives of two regional supermarket chains rank among the nation's highest-rated CEOs.

Wegmans Food Markets will open its eleventh store in Virginia on June 3. And more are in the works.

Wegmans Food Markets is expanding its footprint with a new concept.    In a first for the 101-year-old grocer, Wegmans said it will open a two-level store, at Natick Mall, Natick, Mass., with direct access to the shopping center. The 134,000-sq.-ft. store will be located in a building that formerly housed one of the mall's anchors, J.C. Penney.    

Chain Store Age announced the selection of the Advisory Board for SPECS/2018, the annual retail event produced by CSA and attended by retail and food-service executives who plan, design, build, and maintain stores and restaurants nationwide.     Now in its 54th year, SPECS will host its 2018 conference in Dallas, at the Gaylord Texan, March 18-20. The event will focus on what’s next, and what is shaping the future of physical retail.  

Wegmans Food Markets is jumping into the on-demand delivery game.   Through a new partnership with Instacart, the regional grocer now offers one-hour grocery deliveries. The service is currently available in select locations in Virginia, however, the supermarket chain is preparing to launch the program in Maryland, Boston, Southern New Jersey, and Southeastern Pennsylvania, according to Wegmans.
