  • Cartier, Hermes to open at Stanford Shopping Center

    Simon Properties has announced the impending arrivals of Cartier and Hermes at its Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California. This marks Hermes’ first new U.S. store in five years, according to Simon.   The 6,000-sq.-ft. Hermes shop, which will reside near Neiman Marcus in the center of the newly updated center, is scheduled to open in late 2017 or early 2018. Its focus will be on men's, women's, home, and equestrian collections.   
  • Tough year, tough quarter for Neiman Marcus

    The nation’s premier luxury department store retailer posted declines in profit and revenue for fiscal 2016.   For the full year, Neiman Marcus Group posted a $406.11 million loss, compared to an income of $14.95 million in 2015.   For the fourth quarter, the retailer posted a loss of  $407.25, compared to a loss of $32.88 million in the year-ago period.

  • Macerich opens its rebuilt San Francisco ‘fortress’

    It was already generating $700 per square foot in revenue, but Broadway Plaza in San Francisco’s East Bay got a complete makeover from owner Macerich that was unveiled last week. Fireworks and a performance by Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray accompanied the ribbon-cutting.   Gross leasing area was expanded to beyond 900,000 sq. ft. and more than 50 new stores inhabit the open-air center that debuted in 1951. Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus, and Macy’s anchor the plaza that Macerich has owned for the last 30 years.  
  • Neiman Marcus debuts high-tech mirror for trying on sunglasses

    Neiman Marcus is making it easier for customers to select their sunglasses.      The luxury department store retailer is launching a new technology, called the Sunglass Memory Mirror, in partnership with MemoMi and Luxottica Wholesale NA. The mirror, which is really a digital screen, allows sunglass shoppers to better engage with the product and create shareable shopping experiences.
