  • Hibbett Sports Q2 net income jumps 48%

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Hibbett Sports said its second-quarter earnings rose 48%, boosted by growing same-store sales. The company also raised its fiscal 2012 earnings guidance.

    The chain earned $5.9 million in the three months that ended July 30, up from $4 million in the same quarter last year. Revenue climbed more than 9% to $153.1 million.

    The performance topped Wall Street expectations.

    Same-store sales rose  6%.

  • Hibbett Sports shapes up strong same-store sales

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Hibbett Sports reported that net sales for the second quarter ended July 30 increased 9.5% to $153.1 million compared with $139.8 million for the second quarter ended July 31, 2010. Comparable-store sales increased 5.9%.

    Net income for the quarter increased 48% to $5.9 million compared with $4 million for the same period last year. Earnings per diluted share increased 56.4% to 21 cents compared with 14 cents for the same period last year.

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Hibbett Sports reported Friday that profit for the quarter ended July 30 surged 48% to $5.9 million, compared with $4 million a year earlier.

    Revenue rose more than 9% to $153.1 million, beating Wall Street’s projected $151.9 million in revenue.

     

  • Hibbett Sports Q1 earnings surge 23%, to open 40 net new stores

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Hibbett Sports Inc. reported Friday that net income for the quarter ended April 30 rose 23% to $21.3 million, compared with $17.3 million in the year-ago period.

    Revenue increased 10.4% to $203.7 million, beating analysts’ projected $200.8 million in revenue. 

    During the quarter, Hibbett opened eight new stores, expanded four others and closed seven underperforming stores. During the rest of the fiscal year, Hibbett said it expects to open between 50 and 55 new stores, close 10 to 15 stores and expand another 15 stores.

  • Hibbett net income soars in Q1

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A few days after Dick's Sporting Goods reported higher-than-expected earnings, Hibbett Sports posted even more impressive sales and income growth. Hibbett Sports reported that net sales for the first quarter increased 10.4% to $203.7 million compared with $184.5 million for the same period last year. Comparable-store sales increased 6.8%.

  • Hibbett Sports Q4 profit up; 50 to 55 new stores on tap for 2011

    Birmingham, Ala. — Hibbett Sports Inc. said Friday that its fiscal fourth-quarter net income climbed 6% on higher sales. The sporting goods retailer also predicts its fiscal 2012 earnings will be in line with Wall Street's view.

    Hibbett Sports reported net income of $12.5 million for the period ended Jan. 29, up from $11.8 million a year earlier, better than Wall Street expected.

    Revenue rose 4% to $173.2 million from $166.8 million, but fell short of Wall Street's estimate of $174.2 million. Same-store sales rose 1.2%.

  • Hibbett misses 4Q guidance

    An otherwise exceptional year of sales and profits at Hibbett Sports was soiled somewhat late in the fourth quarter as consumer demand deteriorated, forcing the company to alert investors that it would come up short against earlier guidance. The 767-unit Hibbett chain continued to execute its strategy, but really bad weather in many of the company’s markets coupled with a slower-than-expected flow of tax refunds negatively affected results.
