  • GameStop ‘Evolving’ into omnichannel master?

    Customers who are fans of the wildly popular video game Evolve will love GameStop’s new promotions, both online and in-store.

    The video game retailer will be conducting consumer engagement quizzes in-store and online that allow fans to identify the best Evolve hunters or monsters based on their personal play style. Fans who share their results on social media will be eligible to win GameStop gift cards.

    Customers can pre-order Evolve and sign up for the promotions in-store or online.

  • Kohl's invests in kids and a 5K

    Kohl’s rolled out two omnichannel campaigns in January underscoring the company’s stated focus on giving back to the community.

    The company says it will award $400,000 in scholarships and prizes to more than 2,500 students who have made a positive impact on their communities. Nominations for kids ages 6 to 18 will be accepted until March 13 at kohlskids.com and in stores.

    It may be hard to believe (considering its financial troubles), but Sears was the most popular U.S. department store on Facebook during the 2014 holiday shopping season, according to a new study. 

    The data also show that Walmart.com was the most popular mass merchant store site.

  • Toys 'R' Us kicks off Special Olympics drive

    Toys "R" Us is expanding its partnership with the Special Olympics with a whopping $1.25 million commitment toward sponsoring the 2015 Special Olympics World Games.

    The Games, which will welcome 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing 177 countries, to Los Angeles, Calif., from July 25 to Aug. 2, is the flagship event of the Special Olympics and biggest sporting event of the year. The 2015 World Games marks the first time in 16 years that the Summer World Games have been held in the United States.

  • Kohl’s launches omnichannel partnership with The Color Run

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. – Kohl’s Department Stores will be the exclusive department store retail partner for The Color Run, a national paint race event series. Select Kohl’s stores will serve as the packet pick-up location in more than 100 cities across the county.

    Kohl’s will have a social presence at each race and will encourage participants to take and share celebratory photos with their friends and family across social accounts using #MakeYourMove.

  • GameStop hosts omnichannel preview for ‘Evolve’

    Grapevine, Texas - GameStop will be hosting “Monster Mondays,” a trio of exclusive weekly videos from the perspective of each monster within the video game “Evolve,” creating a platform for fans to share and discuss offensive and defensive strategies. These videos began airing on Jan. 26, and will continue on Feb. 2 and Feb. 9 in anticipation of the game’s release Feb. 10.

    San Mateo, Calif. -- A pair of veteran retailers were among the most popular store sites on Facebook during the 2014 holiday season. Sears was the most popular U.S. department store, while Walmart.com was the most popular mass merchant store site, according to a study by Searchmetrics.

    The Searchmetrics study analyzed the number of weekly Facebook likes, comments and shares for pages from the websites of nine top US department stores and three mass merchant stores during November and December 2014.
