    Kroger Co. wants to give its employees a voice — and now they have one.   Eager to highlight the accomplishments, milestones, and personal connections made by its associates, Kroger Co. introduced Krogersteries.com, a website dedicated to its employees’ contributions, and the impact they make on the company.   
  • Teen apparel retailer steps up its digital engagement ‘game’

    Hollister & Co. is connecting with its shoppers through two of their favorite pastimes: mobility and video games.   Through a partnership with Rovio Entertainment and TreSensa, the re-tailer debuted a mobile video game whose activation functionality func-tions as an ad that connects the brand with loyal and potential shoppers, according to AdAge.   
  • Men’s grooming concept plans aggressive expansion in Texas

    Hammer & Nails Grooming Shop for Guys, a new franchise that bills itself as the lone male grooming option, is set to open its first 50 locations in Texas.  Dallas and Houston shops are due by summer, and eight more are expected to be operating in the state by year’s end.  
  • JLL names new West Coast leasing VPs

    Jones Lang LaSalle has announced the hiring of two new vice presidents to handle leasing of third-party-managed retail properties in West Coast markets.  
  • Penney losing key executive to Hershey

    The chief marketing officer of J.C. Penney is leaving the company after two years on the job.   Mary Beth West is leaving the department store retailer on March 31 to become senior VP and chief growth officer of the Hershey Co. She will join Hershey on May 1.   West joined Penney in April 2015 after serving on the company’s board of directors for 10 years.   
  • Beauty retailer expands augmented reality experience

    A new app enhancement is helping Sephora shoppers complete their look.   By adding new augmented reality-based features to the Sephora Virtual Artist app, the chain enables shoppers users to virtually try on thousands of shades of single and palette eyeshadows directly through their mobile device. This service augments the app’s existing functionality that allows users to try on an assortment of lip colors and false eye lash styles.  
  • J.C. Penney expanding home services pilot

    Starting soon, select J.C. Penney will be offering bathroom remodeling services.  
  • Dunkin’ Donuts expanding in the South

    Dunkin’ Donuts is growing its footprint in Alabama and Mississippi.   The chain signed development agreements with two franchise groups to develop 17 locations throughout the two states during the next several years.   Existing franchisee Birmingham Donut Holdings plans to develop nine new Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in Birmingham, Alabama.  The group currently operates 34 restaurants throughout Alabama and Florida.
