    South Denver’s Park Meadows regional mall is officially 15 years old -- and it is celebrating throughout the month of August with free community entertainment and activities, culminating in a free community pancake breakfast August 30, 2011.

  • TJX comps up in Q2

    FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — TJX announced that net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2012 increased 8% to $5.5 billion and consolidated comparable-store sales increased 4%. Net income for the second quarter was $348 million and diluted earnings per share were 90 cents, compared with 74 cents per share last year.

    Target has a lot of things going right for it right now with some decent sales momentum and a mix of current and long term initiatives to drive growth. Even so, Target is in the same boat as other retailers who are posting solid profits, but doing so in an uncertain economic climate where fragile consumer confidence makes it hard to get to aggressive when it comes to forecasting future performance.

  • Office Depot launches mobile back-to-school promotion

    New York City -- Marketing technology company SpyderLynk and Momentum Worldwide announced Friday that Office Depot has launched a national back-to-school mobile campaign that was developed by Momentum, using SpyderLynk’s 2D mobile barcode SnapTag technology.

    The campaign offers back-to-school shoppers the opportunity to save through in-store mobile gift card giveaways and other discounts.

  • Kroger banners announce campaigns to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure

    LOS ANGELES — Kroger banners Ralphs and Food 4 Less have both announced fundraising campaigns to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliates in California. 

    Customers and associates at both stores can support their local Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliate by donating their spare change in collection canisters located at the checkstands in their neighborhood Ralphs of Food 4 Less Supermarket.The Komen fundraising camSupaign will run through Nov. 5, 2011.

  • Asda customers show off real beauty

    LONDON — Real customers from Walmart's Asda division will be a part of Dove's billboard advertising campaign. 

    Ten models were chosen as the winners of a competition that ran through Asda earlier this year. Winners were treated to a makeover, colour consultation and professional hair styling before they stepped in front of the camera. George, Asda's clothing division, provided the attire for the shoot. 

     

     

  • Coupon usage up, Sunday newspaper inserts still most popular source

    New York City -- When it comes to coupons, consumers still rely on the Sunday newspaper. According to consumer and media measurement firm Scarborough Research, coupon usage for household items is up 24% since 2006, with Sunday newspaper inserts ranking as the leading (49%) source for coupons, followed by in-store coupons (43%), direct mailings (33%), in-store circulars (26%), and preferred customer/loyalty card (24). And some one-fifth (22%) of consumers are utilizing digital media such as email, text messaging or Internet sites to get their household coupons,
