    A Food City supermarket in Bristol, Va., has given new meaning to that old merchandising adage, “stack it high and let it fly,” by creating the world’s largest pineapple display.

  • Belk gets the vote out for that certain look

    Charlotte, N.C. – Belk Inc. is getting the vote out when it comes to selecting that certain look. Working with digital marketing provider HelloWorld, Belk is allowing customers to both submit and vote on “looks” such as dorm room, game room and night out, created with Belk merchandise.

  • TigerDirect hosts ultimate geek contest

    TigerDirect is encouraging consumers to unleash their inner geek with 18th annual PC Race.

    The retailer has partnered with Intel to host the competition, which is set to kick off at QuakeCon 2015 in Dallas from July 23 to July 26. The first contestant to assemble and boot their high performance PCs in each regional race will win an all expenses paid trip to Miami to compete in the National Finals on Nov. 6 during Tech Bash.

  • J.C. Penney crosses channels for back to school

    Plano, Texas – The J.C. Penney Co. Inc. is launching a back-to-school marketing campaign that crosses multiple channels. The campaign will be supported by ads on TV, in Seventeen magazine, direct mail, preprints, broadcast and streaming video.

    All marketing elements will be housed on a back-to-school hub at the Penney website, which includes a mix-and-match game that allows kids and teens to assemble different pieces to create their own style mash-up.

    JCPenney Co. is launching a back-to-school marketing campaign that covers all the bases of omnichannel retailing.

  • Dog dudes, surfs up with Petco’s partnership

    A unique sponsorship and promotional effort that only a retailer based in Southern California would think of is set to begin August 1.

    Petco is the title sponsor of the Unleashed by Petco SurfDog Competition to be held in Imperial Beach just south of San Diego on August 1. It is the 10th time the event has been held and the second year San Diego-based Petco has served as lead sponsor to promote its relatively new 100 store Unleashed by Petco concept which focuses on natural and organic products.

    The latest back-to-school promotion from Staples includes deeper discounts, a free trip to California for 50 students, and a new TV advertising campaign.
