    ECRM compared retail circular advertising in December 2012 versus December 2013 and noted trends occurring across top retail chains. Last year, Home Depot did not run any circular promotions for the month of December and instead chose to coast on Web and email promotions. These electronic offers featured 50%-off promotions, as well as one-day-only sales. Although this online-only behavior was not repeated, Web and email remained Home Depot’s main focus: a short circular with a four day duration was run on Dec. 1 with a Cyber Monday theme.

    Austin, Texas – Shelfbucks Inc. has appointed a 25-member advisory board of senior corporate executives and business school leaders. Launched in October 2013, Shelfbucks delivers a smartphone-based technology that capitalizes on iBeacon, Bluetooth Low Energy and Near Field Communications to enable retailers to communicate special offers, coupons and other information directly to consumers in the retail setting.

  • Stephen Colbert to get nutty at the Super Bowl

    Wonderful Pistachios is heading to the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year, and is taking Emmy-award winning host and executive producer of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," Stephen Colbert, with it.

    As part of the full-year agreement under the campaign theme, "Get Crackin', America," Colbert will star in two Super Bowl spots for the pistachio grower.

  • Coupons.com acquires Yub

    Coupons.com, a leading provider of digital printable coupons, digital paperless coupons and mobile promotions, has acquired Yub. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Yub allows consumers to link digital offers and promotions to payment cards for instant savings when they use the cards for in-store purchases. Merchants, retailers and restaurants can easily track offers from online clicks to offline purchases. Coupons.com plans to bring its scale, affiliate network reach and merchant base to the Yub platform to increase consumer adoption.
