  • Fred’s joins InStream POS marketing network

    Memphis, Tenn. - Fred's Super Dollar is enhancing its POS marketing efforts. The retailer has joined inStream's retailer network of 38,000-plus stores offering POS and digital marketing programs.  

    The Fred's/inStream partnership will reach more than 2.2 million shoppers across 600 stores each week with targeted offers, on the "front" of their consumer receipts which will feature eye-catching graphics.

  • Holidays not very merry for Cabela's

    The CEO of Cabela’s is blaming marketing costs for the company’s weaker earnings in the fourth quarter.

    For the quarter, total revenue increased 7.2% to $1.3 billion; retail store revenue increased 13.9% to $810.6 million; direct revenue decreased 5.4% to $349.9 million; and financial services revenue increased 9.9% to $113.3 million. During the period, same store store sales decreased 5.5%.

  • Citi Trends sales head in the right direction

    Savannah, Ga. – Specialty discount apparel retailer Citi Trends Inc. reported some encouraging trends in terms of sales for fiscal and full year 2014. Total sales for the fourth quarter increased 15% to $181.1 million, compared with $157.2 million in the same period a year earlier.

    Same-store sales increased 13.9% in the fourth quarter. A number of winter storm-related closings in January 2014 and an earlier start to tax refund season the last two days of the month in January 2015 helped boost same-store sales for the quarter.

    The new service, called Amazon Giveaway, is a self-service tool designed for Amazon customers who want to use giveaways to grow their social media followings and reward their customers and audience. Features include the ability to require contestants to follow the contest organizer on Twitter to be eligible for a chance to win a prize.

  • Hustler Hollywood stores hope to capitalize on Fifty Shades movie

    Beverly Hills, Calif. -- Adult retail operator Hustler Hollywood is taking advantage of the traffic surge expected by the Valentine's Day weekend release of Universal Pictures' "Fifty Shades of Grey." The retailer announced that select locations will open their doors on the morning of Feb. 13 and remain open round-the-clock until end of business on Valentine's Day.
