  • Global brand developer appoints new VP, business development

    CHICAGO, Ill. — Brand development and deployment services provider Schawk has appointed Michael Larkin as its new VP of business development.

    In his new role, Larkin will be responsible for driving business development activities at consumer packaged goods companies across North America, helping those companies drive top line growth and improve efficiency at the brand level. He will focus on developing relationships with new accounts.

    New York -- YCD Multimedia announced that watch retailer Tourneau, has selected YCD's C-nario Messenger digital signage platform as the engine behind a unique video display in its new concept store in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, Calif. The integrator was Media Services Worldwide, a U.S. provider of design, integration and installation services.


  • Toymageddon 2012 begins Dec. 21 at Toys“R”Us

    WAYNE, N.J. — With 12 shopping days left, Toys"R"Us plans to keep most of its stores open for 88 consecutive hours nationwide, from 6 a.m. Friday, December 21 through 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.

  • Dots teams with Alliance Data to launch credit card program

    Dallas -- Alliance Data Systems Corp. said Wednesday that women’s apparel and accessories retailer Dots has signed an agreement for private-label credit card services.

    "The benefits of the new dots card are multifaceted,” said Lisa Rhodes, CEO, Dots. “In addition to providing a finance option and exclusive offers, it's an opportunity for us to bond with our shoppers as they become advocates of our brand.”

  • Market Track: November 2012

    Promotional activity among the nation’s leading retailers declined during November aside from several notable exceptions. There was a flurry of intense promotional activity around Thanksgiving weekend, as always, but for the months as a whole the number of inserts distributed by retailers declined 7% and the number of pages declined by 5%.

  • Chase: Green Monday top-five shopping day so far

    New York -- The Chase Holiday Pulse on Wednesday revealed that Green Monday, Dec. 10, sales showed a  10.7% year-over-year increase over Green Monday (Dec. 12) in 2011, mainly driven by merchant deals and discounts on popular gift items.

  • Top names in office essentials zero in on small businesses

    SAN FRANCISCO — Office Depot, FedEx Office and Go Daddy are anxious to tap into the small office and home office businesses market, which has been enjoying rapid growth and change. To that end, the three have formed a partnership with Planet Soho, a provider of user-friendly online management tools and services for the SOHO market.

  • Shop.org: Retailers planning last-minute holiday shipping rush

    Washington, D.C. -- A report released Wednesday by Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation, found that retailers are in tune with the last-minute shipping intentions of the average consumer.

    According to Shop.org’s 2012 eHoliday Study conducted by BIGinsight, 45.7% of retailers will end standard shipping promotions by Monday, Dec. 17, in direct response to the average consumer’s tendency to wait until the last minute to finish holiday shopping.
