Toymageddon 2012 begins Dec. 21 at Toys“R”Us
WAYNE, N.J. — With 12 shopping days left, Toys"R"Us plans to keep most of its stores open for 88 consecutive hours nationwide, from 6 a.m. Friday, December 21 through 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.
The toy store retailer ran a similar campaign last year, opening its doors for 112 consecutive hours, from 6 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 to 10 p.m. Christmas Eve. This year, however, the flagship store at the iconic Times Square location in New York opened its doors at 7 a.m. Sunday, December 2 and will keep them open until 10 p.m. Christmas Eve, for a staggering total of 543 consecutive hours. Stores in Paramus, N.J., as well as Toys"R"Us express and outlet stores, will not be open 24 hours per day. The Toys"R"Us store in Framingham, Mass., will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.
"By extending our shopping hours in the days leading up to Christmas, customers can take advantage of around-the-clock shopping at Toys"R"Us stores nationwide for all of their gift-giving needs whenever is most convenient to them," said Troy Rice, EVP, stores and services, Toys"R"Us. "In addition, with fantastic deals and discounts and the best in-stock position on the hottest toys, gift-givers won't need to shop anywhere else to get those coveted presents under the tree just in time for Santa's arrival on Christmas morning."
To kick off its all-night shopping sessions, Toys"R"Us is also holding a two-day sale on select items from Friday, December 21 to Saturday, December 22. The retailer will also offer its Price Match Guarantee during the entire 88 hours, good news to shoppers who hope to stretch their holiday budgets.
Toys”R”Us is not forgetting its online customers, either. Those who prefer to shop from the comfort of their homes will have access to enhanced omnichannel services such as "Buy Online, Pick Up In Store." They will be able to take advantage of purchasing items online and picking them up at their nearest stores the same day through 2 p.m. Christmas Eve. The retailer will even offer online customers the option of purchasing online and choosing the “Family and Friends Pick Up” option so the people for whom they are shopping can pick up their gifts at their nearest location. Toys”R”Us is also guaranteeing that orders placed by 3 p.m. EST Friday, December 21 will arrive by Christmas Eve with express shipping, in all 48 continental states. The deadline for Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico is Monday, December 17.
Toys”R”Us’ announcement follows a similar announcement made by Macy’s last week, which also plans to keep most of its stores open from 7 a.m. Friday, December 21 through 7 a.m. Sunday, December 23. The Macy’s shopping marathon also coincides with the fashion retailer’s final scheduled One-Day Sale of the year, which concludes at 7 a.m. Sunday, December 23.
