Amazon Prime for Young Adults expands cash back for back-to-college
Amazon is temporarily adding more categories to its cash back offer for members of its Prime program for consumers age 18-24.
Through Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, members of the Amazon Prime for Young Adults program can automatically earn 5% cash back on home, kitchen and office purchases as part of a special “Off to College” promotion. These are in addition to the categories Prime for Young Adults members earn 5% cash back on throughout the year, such as beauty, apparel, electronics, PCs and personal care.

Specific examples of products that will be available for discount include air purifiers, bedding, décor and storage solutions from brands like Bissell, Dyson, Shark and Levoit. Kitchen items include coffee makers and air fryers from brands including Ninja, Owala, Brita, Keurig and Breville. Office products include calculators, printers, notebooks and desk accessories from brands such as Texas Instruments, HP, Amazon Basics and Sharpie.
Prime for Young Adults members will automatically earn 5% cash back on the final price of eligible items. After an order arrives, members can visit the Amazon Prime web page to sign in and check the cash back balance at the top of the page. A minimum balance of $5 is required to redeem.
Once redeemed, cash back can be applied at checkout on most purchases, excluding gift cards, digital content, and Prime membership fees. Cash back cannot be applied retroactively and expires 180 days after it is earned and rates and eligible categories vary throughout the year, with enhanced earning opportunities during major shopping events such as Amazon Prime Day.
Since introducing cash back, Amazon says Prime for Young Adults members have collectively earned more than $225 million in rewards. Membership costs $7.49 per month or $69 annually, half the price of a regular Prime membership. To verify their age, customers share their driver's license, passport, or identity card. Higher-education students enrolled in a two- or four-year college can also sign up by sharing their .edu email address.

"Between bedding, kitchen gadgets, desk supplies, and cleaning essentials, the costs add up fast. Starting today, and for a limited time, Prime for Young Adults members can earn 5% cash back on home, kitchen and office purchases, turning one of the most important shopping moments of the year into automatic savings."
