Walmart introduces discount holiday meal for under $5 a person
Walmart Inc. is giving ham lovers a budget option for holiday entertaining.
The discount giant is launching a new discount holiday meal it calls "one last gift" from its food team at Walmart this season, The new basket features ham, sides and two dessert options. There are 28 items in total, from the ingredients for sweet potato and green bean casseroles to brown-and-serve rolls and pumpkin pie.
According to Walmart, this holiday ham meal package will serve up to 12 people for under $5 per person. It will be available in stores and on the Walmart.com e-commerce site through Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 (New Year’s Eve), with delivery available as early as 6 a.m.
Walmart’s new discount ham holiday meal offering is running concurrently with a discounted Thanksgiving meal, including turkey (priced $.88/lb.) and trimmings to desserts, which is available through Tuesday, Dec. 24 2024 (Christmas Eve).
The Thanksgiving meal features 29 items and is designed to serve eight people for less than $7 per person. Walmart has offered a budget-priced Thanksgiving meal for eight years.

Customers can also purchase either discount holiday meal option for a loved one by inputting their friend or family’s address into Walmart.com. In addition, customers can donate the equivalent of a meal to their local Salvation Army unit in a few clicks online.
“We know our customers count on us to bring the magic each and every holiday season," said John Laney, executive VP, food, Walmart U.S. "That’s why we were the one of the first major retailers to introduce a bundled holiday meal basket in 2022, and with each passing season, we’ve offered savings on items central to our customers’ holiday meal celebrations."
The menu for the holiday ham meal basket includes:
- Boneless honey cured double glazed ham.
- Boneless brown sugar double glazed ham.
- Stove Top stuffing twin pack (1).
- Great Value gravy powder (2).
- Great Value brown & serve rolls.
- Fresh whole sweet potatoes (4 units).
- Great Value mini marshmallows (10 oz.).
- Campbell’s condensed cream of mushroom soup (2 units - 10.5 oz.).
- Great Value canned green beans (4 units - 14.5 oz).
- Great Value golden sweet whole kernel corn (4 units - 15 oz).
- French’s crispy fried onions (1 unit - 6 oz.).
- Fresh whole russet potatoes (1 unit - 5 lbs.)
- Great Value evaporated milk (1 unit - 12 fl oz.).
- Great Value 100% pure pumpkin (1 unit - 15 oz.).
- Great Value Fresh 9-inch pie crusts (1 unit - 16 oz.).
- Marie Callender’s Southern pecan pie (1 unit - 32oz.).
- Great Value frozen whipped topping (1 unit - 8 oz.).
