Walmart hosting summer sales blockbuster in June

Walmart Plus Week
Walmart+ Week returns in June.

Walmart is bringing back a big members-only sales event — weeks ahead of Amazon's annual Prime Day event in July.

The retail giant's Walmart+ Week is a seven-day omnichannel sales extravaganza with offers and savings exclusively for members of the Walmart+ paid subscription program.  It was first introduced in 2023, when it lasted four days and coincided with Prime Day. This year, however, Walmart+ Week will take place Monday, June 17 through Sunday, June 23.  (Amazon has not yet released the specific dates for its 10th annual Prime Day event, beyond saying it will be held this July.)

In addition, Walmart is introducing its first-ever mystery offer, set to be revealed on Thursday, June 20.

Special offers for Walmart+ members during Walmart+ Week  include:

  • Double the discount on fuel at Exxon & Mobil stations nationwide, 20 cents off every gallon;
  • Up to 20% back in Walmart Cash rewards on flights, hotels, car rentals and activities booked through the Walmart+ Travel service;
  • Complimentary express delivery, delivering orders to customer doorsteps in under two hours without the usual $10 fee; and
  • Three free months of Walmart+ InHome delivery, which drops off items on a customer’s kitchen counter or in their garage.

Walmart+ Week follows the retailer’s 24-hour Early Access event it held for members of its paid subscription service in April 2024, featuring a a variety of food and consumable products, including some limited-edition items.

Walmart also ran its “Super Spring Savings Week” sale online and in-store in March 2024. That promotion was open to all customers.

"As you can see, we’re pulling out all the stops this year to transform Walmart+ Week into a unique experience," said Venessa Yates, GM and senior VP, Walmart+. "We're thrilled to bring back this event as a way to show our gratitude and reinforce our commitment to saving our members time and money. We're excited for a week filled with exclusive offers, surprises and an unparalleled celebration of our Walmart+ members. We can't wait to make this Walmart+ Week the best one yet."

Walmart initially launched Walmart+ in September 2020, and has added a number of features, perks and partnerships since. Walmart+, which the retailer has always said is not intended to be a competing service to Amazon Prime, costs $98 for its annual plan or $49 for qualifying government assistance recipients.
