TikTok integrates box-free, label-free returns into its e-commerce site

TikTok Shop
TikTok Shop is teaming with Happy Returns.

Sellers on TikTok Shop have a new streamlined returns option to offer shoppers.

Happy Returns, a reverse logistics and software company owned by UPS, has been integrated into TikTok Shop and is now available for participating retailers across the popular e-commerce platform —  whether the merchant handles its own fulfillment or has orders fulfilled byTikTok

TikTok Shop brings shoppable videos and livestreams from retailers, brands and content creators directly to user feeds. Happy Returns operates a network of drop-off locations called Return Bars in metro areas in every state in the continental U.S., as well as Washington D.C.

How Happy Returns for TikTok Shop works

For an eligible TikTok Shop order, shoppers initiate their return directly through TikTok Shop and select Happy Returns as their return method. From there, they can bring the item to one of nearly 10,000 Return Bar locations with no box or printed label required.

At the Return Bar, the item is scanned and verified before the return is accepted. Happy Returns adds additional layers of protection through behavioral risk signals and its proprietary AI-based Return Vision technology, which helps identify and audit potentially risky returns.

Returned items are then consolidated and transported through the network of Happy Returns parent company UPS. Pacsun is currently offering the Happy Returns service to customers on its TikTok Shop storefront.

"TikTok Shop is where people discover products and brands, and the shopping experience extends well beyond checkout,” said Patrick Nommensen, TikTok Shop president of strategic initiatives. “Our collaboration with Happy Returns builds on our commitment to making the returns experience faster, hassle free, and more trustworthy for our shoppers, with box-free, label-free returns and instant refunds at approximately 10,000 Return Bar locations nationwide.”

TikTok is adding this new returns option as its popularity is rapidly growing among U.S. consumers. Nearly one-in-10 U.S. households bought something on TikTok Shop last year, according to data from NielsenIQ (NIQ).
