TENANT UPDATE

Rock Row, Waterstone Properties’ $600 million development in Portland, Maine, has hired chef Akhtar Nawab and his Hospitality HQ to operate the 26,000-sq.-ft. food hall it is planning to open. 

The new mall formula now calls for fewer department stores and more tenants like gyms, restaurants, medical offices, and arcades that bring round-the-clock traffic. 

Ohio’s premier, 200-plus-store retail Mecca opened a brand new district during the pandemic and this month ushers in six new tenants—three of which are first-to-market or first in the state.

Hobby Lobby has some 900 stores spread across the United States, but its presence has been sparse in the state of Ohio.

Heritage Partners has announced the lease of the entire 96,000-sq.-ft. former J.C. Penney site at its Woodmore Towne Centre in Glenarden, Maryland. 

Sam’s Club is resuming its sampling program and adding events that take samples out of the club and into the parking lot. 

Craftsman tools and Kenmore refrigerators will be replaced by veal parmigiana and Picanha sirloin at Simon’s Burlington Mall in Massachusetts.

The Comedy Shrine, a comedy club run by a former trouper at Chicago’s Second City improv theater, has moved into Fox Valley Center in Aurora, Ill.
