  • Nine West exec to head up IT at department store chain

    The Bon Ton Stores has a new technology leader.   Norm Veit has joined the company as executive VP, CIO, responsible for the chain’s IT strategy and operations.   Veit bring more than 35 years of experience to Bon-Ton, having held a variety of leadership roles in retail companies throughout his career. Most recently, he served as CIO and executive VP, distribution, real estate and facilities for Nine West Holdings, Inc.   
  • Leadership shakeup, layoffs at Etsy

    There’s been a couple of change in the C-suite of hand-made goods marketplace Etsy.   The company said chairman and CEO Chad Dickerson is stepping down, to be succeeded as CEO by board member Josh Silverman, effective May 3. Fred Wilson, who has served as lead independent director of the Etsy board, since October 2014, will succeed Dickerson as chairman.  
  • Former Walmart exec to lead SpartanNash supply chain

    A grocery distributor and retailer is expanding its supply chain management team.   SpartanNash named Tom Lee as senior VP, supply chain. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing SpartanNash’s supply chain, logistics, transportation and inventory management departments.   
  • Albertsons names longtime vet Jewel-Osco division president

    Albertsons’ Jewel-Osco division has a new executive at the helm.     The company has named Doug Cygan division president, effective immediately, overseeing 186 stores in Ill., Ind. and Iowa. Cygan was most recently Jewel-Osco’s VP marketing and merchandising. He joined the company in April 1980 as a part-time clerk, staying with the chain as he completed his education and worked his way up through the ranks.  He became VP marketing and merchandising in 2011.   
  • Longtime Nordstrom exec joins DSW in big role

    A veteran Nordstrom executive has been named COO of DSW.    The footwear retailer appointed Michele Love as executive VP and COO, effective May 1, 2017. With responsibility for marketing and digital, she will oversee all aspects of customer engagement, driving messaging across all touchpoints.  
  • Barnes & Noble names new CEO — its fourth in four years

    Barnes & Noble has ended its quest for a new chief executive with an in-house promotion.   The struggling bookseller named Demos Parneros as CEO, effective immediately. Parneros, who has served as COO of Barnes & Noble since November 2016, is a longtime Staples veteran. Prior to joining Barnes & Noble, he was president of North American stores & online for the office supply giant.  
  • HSNi on hunt for new CEO as Mindy Grossman leaves retail for…

    One of the retail industry’s most high-profile and powerful female executives has been tapped as CEO of Weight Watchers International.   Mindy Grossman will step down as chief executive of HSNi effective May 24. She will take the reins as president and CEO of Weight Watchers, effective in July, and will also join the Weight Watchers board at that time.   
  • J. Crew cutting jobs as part of restructuring

    J.Crew Group is in a reorganization mode as it look to better position itself for growth.   The apparel retailer announced several strategic changes across its organization, including reducing headcount. Approximately 150 full-time and 100 open positions are being cut, mostly from corporate headquarters.
