  • Report: Rent the Runway co-founder joins Walmart tech incubator

    Walmart’s tech start-up has added a new leader.   The retail giant’s newly launched startup investment arm, called Store No. 8, has named Jenny Fleiss as one of its chief executives, according to Reuters. Fleiss is the co-founder and former head of business development for Rent the Runway.   
  • Longtime Target exec to leave

    Target Corp. is losing a senior digital executive.   Casey Carl, chief innovation and strategy officer, is leaving the retailer, effective May 5. His departure, first reported by The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, comes as the chain has been reducing some of its innovation initiatives, including a store of the future with robots, to focus on efforts that have a faster payback.   
  • VF Corp. CIO to retire

    VF Corp. is getting a new technology leader.   Martin Schneider, the company’s VP and CIO will retire at the end of 2017. Sandra Harris, VP, global business technology, will succeed Schneider as VP and CIO, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Harris also has been appointed to VF’s senior leadership team.  
  • Albertsons adds new exec position

    Albertsons Companies has appointed Wayne Denningham, currently executive VP and COO, to the new role of president and COO for Albertsons Companies. Denningham will continue to lead store operations with added oversight of marketing & merchandising, supply chain, manufacturing, and integration, all of which will continue under their current leadership.  
  • Citibank exec joins Walmart’s digital team

    Walmart has appointed Rahul Joshi as senior VP, customer care, U.S. eCommerce, effective immediately.       Joshi joins the discounter after more than 25 years at Citibank, most re-cently as the head of consumer operations in Asia, where he successfully led customer-focused teams. He reports to Marc Lore, president & CEO, Walmart U.S. eCommerce.   
  • Crate & Barrel CEO out

    The chief executive of Crate & Barrel is out after less than two years at the top.   Doug Diemoz left the home furnishings retailer last week. Most of his responsibilities will be taken over by Neela Montgomery, board chair of Otto Group, the privately owned German company that owns Crate & Barrel, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.  
  • Kohl’s taps former Best Buy exec as chief marketer

    Kohl’s Cos. has a new chief marketer.   The retailer on Monday named former Best Buy marketing executive Greg Revelle as chief marketing officer. He will be responsible for Kohl’s marketing organization and overall marketing strategy, including its focus on driving customer engagement through analytics, enhancing the loyalty platform, accelerating customer traffic and continuing to build Kohl’s overall brand position. Revelle will report to Michelle Gass, chief merchandising and customer officer.  
  • Gap veteran joins Lululemon board

    A veteran retailer has been named co-chairman of Lululemon Athletica.   The retailer has appointed Glen Murphy to its board as co-chairman, effective immediately.    Murphy served as chairman and CEO of Gap Inc. from 2007 to 2014. Prior to that, he was CEO of Canadian drugstore chain Shoppers Drug Mart. Currently, Murphy is head of FIS Holdings, where he is responsible for leading the high-impact consumer-focused investment firm deploying a combination of operating guidance and capital flexibility.
