  • Chain Store Age launches real estate community site

    New York City -- Building upon the momentum in retail real estate in the recovering economy, Chain Store Age has debuted a new community-oriented “micro-site” for retail real estate executives and shopping center developers. Called “Community” and accessible from chainstoreage.com, the new site offers such features as project of the week, mall marketing spotlight, and bylined articles from industry experts.

  • A lineup of tenants, including Whole Foods, gives New Jersey the nod

    Old Bridge, N.J. -- R.J. Brunelli & Co. said Thursday that it has completed a series of leases that will bring major retailers, restaurants, recreational facilities and personal services to sites in Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Mercer, Union, Essex, and Bergen counties in central and northern New Jersey.

  • Regal to open 14-screen theater at West Oaks Mall

    Houston -- Square Mile Capital Management and Pacific Retail Capital Partners, owners of West Oaks Mall in Houston, announced an agreement with Regal Entertainment Group to bring its Edwards Theatres to the center with a 14-screen multiplex.

    The Edwards Theatre will be the entertainment anchor for the redevelopment of the mall.

  • Edens & Avant makes executive appointments

    Columbia, S.C. -- Edens & Avant has announced the promotion of Carol Hall to VP portfolio management. In her new position, she will be responsible for creating value through the delivery of technology-enabled process and analytical tools to the investment management, property management and leasing teams.

  • New shopping options to open at Westfield Old Orchard

    Skokie, Ill. -- Westfield Old Orchard, an outdoor destination located in Skokie (Chicago), Ill., announced that The Body Shop will rejoin the center in spring 2011 with a 765-sq.-ft. store near Lord & Taylor. Galt Toys will open a 3,400-sq.-ft. store, also slated for a spring 2011 opening, as is Vera Bradley -- with a 1,650-sq.-ft. boutique.

  • Fresh & Easy enters Northern California

    San Jose, Calif. -- Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market on Wednesday celebrated the opening of its first locations in Northern California, in San Jose, and Danville.

    The openings are the first of more than a dozen Fresh & Easy stores set to open early this year in Northern California. The chain, which opened its first stores in 2007, currently has 166 locations.
     

  • Paducah firm named to renovate Kentucky Oaks Mall

    Paducah, Ky. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said that A&K Construction, based in Paducah, Ky., will serve as general contractor for the multi-million-dollar renovation of Kentucky Oaks Mall, also located in Paducah.

    A&K Construction will guide the work that will transform the look of the 28-year-old mall, with new entrance features, ceiling treatments, skylights, upgraded flooring, energy efficient lighting and HVAC systems, modernized public restrooms and other amenities.

  • Ross Dress for Less to open at Target Place Plaza

    Olympia, Wash. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. said Tuesday that Ross Dress for Less will open a new store at its Target Place Plaza, located in Olympia, Wash.

    The new 28,000-sq.-ft. store will open to the public on March 5.

    Target Place Plaza is a 282,183-sq.-ft. center anchored by Target, along with Ross Dress For Less, OfficeMax, Macy’s Furniture Gallery, FedEx Kinkos, Whistle Workwear, Honey Baked Ham, Jo-Ann Etc. and more.
