  • Aeropostale to expand in Asia

    New York City -- Aeropostale announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Montreal PTE Ltd., a joint venture between Apparel Group LLC and Jay Gee Melwani Group, to open approximately 25 stores across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, over the next five years.

    The first store is scheduled to open in Singapore later this year.

  • Wakefern expanding PriceRite to Maryland

    New York City -- Wakefern Food Corp., parent of the ShopRite supermarket chain, plans to introduce its PriceRite discount format in Maryland, opening a 37,000-sq.-ft. store in Woodlawn on March 13.

    Wakefern operates 45 corporate PriceRite locations, which feature both private-label and national brands in a value format.

  • Hhgregg to open new location in Akron

    Indianapolis -- Hhgregg Tuesday announced the grand opening of a new location at the Chapel Hill Mall, Akron, Ohio, on March 10.

    The new store will replace Hhgregg’s older location in Akron, Ohio.

    “The store’s new location and design will provide shoppers in the Akron area with a modern, convenient shopping experience,” said Jeff Pearson, VP marketing, Hhgregg. “We hope that shoppers will come into the store to see the new layout and take advantage of grand opening specials.”

  • Urban Oufitters to debut bridal-shop concept in fall

    New York City -- Urban Outfitters will debut its newest brand, a bridal-shop concept called Bhldn, in early fall, in Houston. The company launched the brand online in February.

    Urban Outfitters will open 50 to 55 stores in its current fiscal year, with the emphasis on growing its Free People brand and expansion of its namesake division and Anthropologie in Europe.

  • Barbie flagship closes

    Shanghai, China -- Mattel announced Monday that it has closed its much-acclaimed Barbie flagship store, which opened March 2009 in Shanghai.

    The El Segundo, Calif.-based toy manufacturer, which officially closed the store’s doors on Monday, cited a change in strategy as reason for the closure. Mattel said in a statement that it plans to promote the Barbie brand via road tour -- on a pink tour bus.

  • Kite Realty Group completes five deals in South Florida

    Pembroke Pines, Fla. -- Indianapolis-based Kite Realty Group said Thursday that five new tenants will open at Cobblestone Plaza, located in Pembroke Pines, Fla.

    The center is anchored by Whole Foods, All Pets Emporium and Party City.

  • Lush Joins Cherry Hill Mall’s roster of market debuts

    Cherry Hill, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) announced that cosmetics retailer Lush will open a new store at Cherry Hill Mall, in Cherry Hill, N.J.
     
    The new 860-sq.-ft. store is located in the Macy’s wing of the mall.

  • Third Eatery opens at Moorestown Mall

    Moorestown, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) said Friday that Sakura House has opened a 980-sq.-ft. Japanese eatery at Moorestown Mall, located in Moorestown, N.J.

    The new location, in the Food Court, joins the recently opened Bubby’s Brisket and Elevation Burger.
