Pop Mart opens new Chicago store; plans to double U.S. store count
Pop Mart has entered the Midwest with its first permanent location.
The Asian toy and collectibles brand has opened its second store in Chicago after it recently debuted a pop-up at The Shops at North Bridge, a shopping mall located on the famous “Magnificent Mile” commercial corridor. The Windy City’s new permanent Pop Mart store is located at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago in nearby Rosemont.
Pop Mart currently operates 22 stores in the United States. The retailer told Chain Store Age that it expects that number to double by the end of the year, with expansions planned in East Coast and Midwest markets, along with potential flagship store openings in “key urban locations.”
“We are excited to bring the magic of Pop Mart to the Midwest,” said Larry Lu, head of Pop Mart North America. “The opening of our second Illinois location allows us to bring our artist-forward designer toys to the community and provide another way to engage with our loyal fans and new faces in the state.”
The new Chicago store will offer a series of opening specials, including limited-edition figurines, accessories and blind boxes.
