  • RadioShack is far from dead

    RadioShack plans to enhance its in-store experience and deliver an exciting new product mix now that it has $75 million in new funding.

    General Wireless Operations Inc., doing business as RadioShack, has completed new financing consisting of a $50 million asset-based lending credit facility led by RBC Capital Markets and a $25 million first-in last-out term loan led by Great American Capital Partners.

  • Academy Sports hits store count landmark, supports growth

    Katy, Texas – Academy Sports + Outdoors is hitting a landmark in its store count.

    The sporting goods chain will open its 200th store in Tupelo, Mississippi on July 3.

    The Tupelo store will be approximately 63,000-sq.-ft. and will bring 100 new jobs to the area. This will be the first location in Tupelo and the fifth store in Mississippi.

  • dd's Discounts opens new Houston-area store

    Dublin, Calif. -- dd’s Discounts, a division of Ross Stores, Inc., opened a new store in Eastex, Texas on June 27.  

    The 21,000-sq.-ft. store is located in the Eastex Shopping Center at Highway 59 and Little York Road.  
     

  • Ross Dress for Less to add two stores to Kentucky presence

    Dublin, Calif. -- Ross Dress for Less will open new stores in Corbin, Kentucky, and in Middletown, Kentucky, both on July 18.  

    The 22,000-sq.-ft. Corbin store is located in the Trademart Shopping Center at Highway 25 and Master Street.

    The 25,000-sq.-ft. Middletown store is located in Middletown Commons at Interstate 265 and Shelbyville Road, 14 miles east of Louisville.  

    Both are part of the retailer’s 2015 expansion program, totaling approximately 70 new locations during the year.  

  • Best Buy gets techie with Samsung

    Best Buy is putting a spotlight on the way technology is impacting home appliances.

  • Warby Parker likes brick-and-mortar

    New York -- Eyewear online retailer Warby Parker continues its brick-and-mortar expansion. With 12 stores now open, the company plans to open seven more locations by year end, according to fashionista.com.

    Warby Parker’s next location is Kansas City, opening later this summer, followed by Scottsdale and San Diego. To read more, click here.
     

  • dd's Discounts brings Las Vegas store count to four

    Dublin, Calif. -- dd’s Discounts, a division of Ross Stores, Inc., opened a new store in northeast Las Vegas on June 27. The 22,000-sq.-ft. store is located in Bonanza East Shopping Center at the intersection of North Eastern Avenue and East Bonanza Road, 1.5 miles northeast of downtown Las Vegas.  

    The newest location brings the retailer’s total store count in the Las Vegas area to four.
     

  • Ross Dress for Less to open in Alton, Illinois

    Dublin, Calif. -- Ross Dress for Less will open a new store in Alton, Illinois, on July 18.  

    The 24,000-sq.-ft. store is located in Alton Square Mall, 20 miles north of downtown St. Louis.
