  • Report: Apple opening 8th store in New York City

    Apple's newest store in New York City is located in one of its most diverse burroughs and store employees will be fluent in a dozen languages.

    According to the New York Daily News, Apple is opening the store on July 11 in the Queens Center mall located in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens.

    "We are really excited to bring our eighth store in NYC to Queens," Jason Barlia, market director at Apple Retail, told the Daily News. "When we saw this location it made a lot of sense."

  • Is The Container Store back on track? Posts smaller than expected loss

    New York -- The Container Store may have exceeded the expectations it set for itself in the first quarter, but its results were decidedly mixed.

    The company lost $5.2 million, or 11 cents a share in the first quarter, compared to a loss of $3.6 million, or seven cents a share, the prior year. The retailer had forecast a loss between 12 cents and 14 cents and analysts pegged the number at 13 cents.
     
    Total sales declined 2.1% to $169.8 million in part because of a $5.2 million foreign exchange headwind.

  • Tumi stores “pop” with LEDs from Solais

    New York -- High-end luggage and accessories Tumi has selected LED lamps from Solais Lighting, a division of PowerSecure International, has its lighting product of record. Tumi has specified Solais’ Xi20 and Xi24 PAR LEDs featuring the company’s VioLight color-enhancing technology.

    Tumi recently installed the LEDs in its store in New York City’s Rockefeller Center.
     

  • 7-Eleven makes sure customers have cash on hand

    Dallas – Convenience store purchases are often small, inexpensive items most consumers would prefer to pay cash for. 7-Eleven Inc. is making sure customers always have access to cash through an agreement with Financial Consulting & Trading International Inc. (FCTI) to become its new ATM provider.

    FCTI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Seven Bank an ATM provider for all 7-Eleven stores in Japan. 7-Eleven's U.S. company-operated and franchised stores are expected to transition to FCTI's ATM program in 2017.
     

  • Another Apple store coming to New York City

    New York -- Fresh off the opening of its store on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Apple is opening another location in New York City.

    The tech giant will open a store on July 11, in the Queens Center mall, in the borough of Queens, giving it a total of eight locations in the city.  

    The Queens store will reflect the diversity of the surrounding community. It will feature some 130 associates fluent in 24 languages apart from English.

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- The design of West Elm’s upcoming store was inspired by a armory.

    The retailer will open its ninth New York store on July 23. The 10,600-sq,-ft. store is located at Culver Road Armory, in Rochester.
